Perhaps one of the quietest huge news in a long while, Reiner Knizia and Merscom have announced they will team to make games for Xbox Live Arcade, Windows and the Nintendo DS, to adapt Knizia’s current boardgames and develop future original games.
For those of you who don’t know who Knizia is, he is one of the greatest designer board game creators ever. From his two player games, such as Lost Cities (major addiction to that game), to major board games such as the brilliant co-op board game Lord of the Rings (based on the Tolkein books, of course), the multiple award winning Taj Mahal, the Egyptian-themed bidding game Ra, the fantastic Renaissance-themed auction game Medici, and other notable games such as Through the Desert, Tigris and Euphrates, and others.
This is major, major news for those of you who love board games, and with the Parker Bros. license being bought earlier in the year, you’ll have a tremendous mix of casual and designer board games coming to your local Xbox 360, Nintendo DS and PC.
Wow, just WOW. Click “Read more” to read the exact press release.
