Looking for future nerd points? Valve has released their list of 99 achievements available for the Orange Box video game compilation. You’ll find 11 of the 99 achievements listed as ‘hidden,’ requiring you to figure them out in order to unlock them. Okay, you can probably just find a website that lists them once the first few gamers unlock ‘em.
Some of the secret achievements hold a good weight in points with 10’s, 20’s and even a 25 point secret achievement to unlock. Most secret achievements tend to be low scoring values that are usually found through typical game play. A 25 point achievement is pretty heafty considering their are so many to unlock, thus their overall weights are low.
Here are a few we found interesting. To get the full list checkout achieve360points.com:
- Bone Breaker (5 points): Kill 30 enemies with thrown physics objects..
- Zombie Chopper (25 points): Play through Ravenholm using only the Gravity Gun..
- Watch Your Head! (5 points): Make it to the bottom of the Citadel’s main elevator shaft in one piece..
- Little Rocket Man (30 points): Send the garden gnome into space..
- Camera Shy (5 points): Detach security cameras from the walls..
I love companies that mix difficult achievements with silly ones to liven up the game play experience. Sure, you don’t have to throw thirty objects at enemies to kill them in order to survive any one mission but it sure is a fun time! I recall, in Half-Life 2, tossing TV’s out the windows at invading troups to try for a ‘head shot.’ I usually end up dead, but it was sure fun as hell!

I thought the rule was, you can only have 50 achievements per retail game?
