DualShock 2 = DualShock 3

ArghAccording to GameDaily BIZ,  the DualShock 3 is actually the same tech as the DualShock 2:

GameDaily BIZ confirmed with Sony today that the technology in the recently announced DualShock 3 is identical to that in the DualShock 2. So anybody expecting Immersion’s next-gen rumble technology can just let those dreams pass into the ether.

So the question must be asked: “Was this trip really necessary?” If Sony could fit DualShock 2/3 into the SIXAXIS controller, why didn’t they? Would have been so painful to admit they couldn’t/didn’t want to use Immersion’s rumble?
