Dead Rising 2 Delayed Indefinitely Due to… Idiocy

GrrrrKotaku has an interview with Dead Rising creator Keiji Inafune, and it makes you want to take a sledgehammer and pound certain persons’ skulls. A quote:

Ashcraft: So Dead Rising 2 won’t be announced next year?
Inafune: Yeah. The original team has been split up and is working on different projects.
Ashcraft: And you are probably busy with your executive role at Capcom?
Inafune: I do really want to do Dead Rising 2. It’s just still hard to get games for the Western market approved.
Ashcraft: But Dead Rising was a big hit abroad.
Inafune: It wasn’t a big hit here in Japan.
Ashcraft: Why is it hard to still get Western geared games approved in Japan?
Inafune: You live here. You know how it is. That’s why getting games for the Western market is still a challenge. So we need people like [Osaka-based Capcom producer] Ben Judd to bridge the gap between Japan and abroad. It’s really hard for people like Ben, I’m sure.

Can someone sell the Dead Rising license to Microsoft then? If they don’t want to make money, I’m sure Microsoft would.

    Translation:

Inafune: Well, I loved Dead Rising, but even though it was a smash hit
in Western markets, it didn’t make money here, therefore, it’s not an
    important game.

Ashcraft: Why is it hard to still get Western geared games approved in
    Japan?

Inafune: Japanese publishers think if it doesn’t sell in Japan, no one
wants it. Or they don’t want to admit the Japanese public might not
    like something everyone else loves.

Lame. Japanese developers seem blind to the fact that people OUTSIDE of Japan buy games.

It’s really strange, because it was actually one of Capcom’s most successful games to date on the 360…

From what I heard from a few other websites, as well as heard around the grape vine at the gamestop I work at the company “Big” is going to make the sequel to Dead Rising. It’s due date is not released yet, however I did hear Big was making a demo/preview of it for the next E3. I’m not 100% on this information but one can dream. Personally I don’t think Big can live up to the task considering how great the first installment was/is. Can’t beat suiting up into a mega-man outfit and blasting cultists in yellow rain coats.

Also, even though speculation on “Dead 2ising” is sketchy at best there are many more zombie based games on the horizon such as Left 4 Dead which I will be picking up until “Dead 2ising” comes out. By the way, I heard that “Dead 2ising” will be based on a Las Vegas strip… just thought I might throw that information out for those of you who are looking for more rumors.
