Activision Buys Bizarre Creations

Activision is at it again, this time nabbing the team behind the Project Gotham Racing series and Geometry Wars. Early this morning Bizarre Creations, was ‘acquired’ by the publishing giant for an undisclosed fee.

While PGR4 is about to hit retail shelves, and The Club still in the works for Sega, Bizarre’s first Activison title will be released sometime after fiscal year 2009; and as you guessed- it’s a racing game.

A blog post on the Bizarre website explains a lot about the acquisition, while taking a jab at Irrational Games’ recent name change and reminds everyone that Activison’s way of running things is “hands off”. Meaning Bizarre still has creative control over everything they do and they run their studio the way they see fit.
