Halo 3 Crashed Teh Internets [UPDATE]

Well, not exactly, but if you tried to access your account on Xbox.com, you might have found you couldn’t. A message on the site states:

ALERT: Due to high traffic related to the launch of Halo 3, some site features may be currently unavailable. Please try again later.

And you thought that downtime of Live a few weeks ago would properly get Live ready for Halo 3. Hah!

[UPDATE: Major Nelson has acknowledged this problem and posted this missive:

If you are having an issue with Xbox LIVE, keep an eye on the Xbox LIVE Service Status section of the support page. (Orange box, right column) The operations center will be updating that throughout the evening until the issues of subsided. I am travelling back to Seattle tomorrow, so keep an eye on my Twitter site as I will update it when I hear from e. ]
