If only Clover Studios, Seeds PlatniumGames knew about the Wii before they started development on Okami. The Wii seems like the perfect system for it. Making a simple brush stroke through your enemies would be easy with just a swing of the Wiimote.
French gaming site Jeauactu.com has confirmed that Okami for Wii has been confirmed, sans sources:
Translated from Babelfish
Okami is finally confirmed on Wii. Attendu for the beginning of 2008, it is obviously based on the formidable version PlayStation 2 that everyone knows already, and will make it possible to carry out the layouts of brush using Wiimote
The rest of the post is a garbled mess that includes the words “evil” and “fantasmé”. We’re skeptical about this; there’s no sources to the story and it sort of came out of nowhere. We’ll have to wait and see.

A long time fantasy for gamers, and source of many rumours, Okami is finally confirmed on the Wii. Watch for it’s release in the beginning of 2008, evidently based on the impressive PlayStation 2 version that everyone is familiar with, it will allow users to perform brush strokes with the help of the Wiimote. It’s a rumour which bodes well for Capcom, and potentially has what’s needed to charm Wii owners causing negative headlines.

Won’t happen and here’s why: It sold abysmally on the most successful game console of all time. They can’t afford to port it to a system with under 1/10th the PS2’s install base!
