RUMOR: 40GB PS3 Sporting More Efficient Chipset

OH MY GOD: Rumor has it that Sony might have changed up their PS3 hardware in favor of quieter, cooler running components! Oh, wait…Sony doesn’t have hardware issues…

Still want to know about it? Well, apparently the infamous Cell processor has now been downgraded to the 65 nm edition, which, like in the Xbox 360’s case, should result in an overall better, more efficient unit. How efficient, you ask? The console now uses 135 watts of power, as opposed to the earlier units’ 200 watts. So, other than a cheaper electric bill, you probably wouldn’t even notice the changes unless you cracked open the case yourself.
