[...] Hellgate: London was released last fall for PC and was criticized soundly in the press for numerous bugs, slowdowns, crashes, user interface issues, bad art, and a host of other problems; you can read GameStooge’s savage review here. [...]

looool what a reviewer noob!!!!!!!
Hellgate isn’t supposed to be a graphic marvel, but Diablo II proved you don’t have to look boring, even in 800×600.
didnt u know d2 was released in 640x480
and got horrible graphics reviews????!
make ur homework first before u start
to diss a great game that certainly has
some major bugs and weaknesses...

but with some patches in half a year
everyone will play it...
im sure...

and all the people that now talk bad
about it will join it...

[I've been reviewing games since I started in 1998 for Computer Games Strategy Plus aka Computer Games Magazine. Thanks for reading! - Jonah Falcon]

You are an idiot. Stop writing reviews right now. Please.

[I've taken your suggestion under consideration, and have decided... no. I'll continue to review games. Thanks for reading. - Jonah Falcon]

I thought the same thing until I was about 1/3 of the way through the game.

I love the item micromanagement, much better than the "use weapon x at level y" style of item advancement. There seems to be a great many optimum paths.

Later gameplay is extremely innovative with interesting twists on quests and character control, not to mention fantastic maps, and fun boss encounters.

With regards to bugs, Hellgate is no worse than Diablo 2, and patches are already rolling in.

Subscribers get constantly updated and new content, and so far Flagship Studios has been giving non subscribers a decent chunk of the updates for free to make up for the lacking parts of the released game.

In short if you have an internet connection, the game is awesome, and is getting better all the time.

Nice and accurate review! Hellgate: London has definitely been one of the worst RPGs I've ever played.

That said... there have actually been some major RPG releases this year. Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer, while an expansion pack, offered the best cRPG experience we've had in a long, long, time.

The Witcher even turns 2007 into a landmark year for RPG fans. It's even being lauded as a title worth mentioning in line with Baldur's Gate and Planescape Torment. There's no higher praise for an RPG, especially a debut title, but it's true. As such, this game alone has turned 2007 into the best year for RPG players in a long, long, time.

Of course we've got BioWares' Dragon Age lined up for next year too, so things are definitely looking up!
