2.01 Firmware Update Kills CoD4?

There are reports that the the 2.01 PlayStation 3 firmware update has negatively affected Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare:
…it appears as if the patch may have created problems for Call of Duty 4 players, who took to the official forums (registration required) en masse to complain of critical errors while trying to play the game online now. Many also report getting the same error: “DW update file error 102 - ‘BD_EXCEPTION_IN_DB’ ” when trying to start a new character. Apparently, firmware 2.01 … is a hippie. Neither Sony nor Activision have responded to the the issue, but we’ll let you know when they do. We also don’t know if this extends to any other games. Have any of you had similar problems?
Have you had any problems with CoD4 since the firmware update?

Call of Duty working fine 2.0, came home last night to play a good 5 hours online, downloaded 2.1( it makes you before you could play ) then that error came up. Call of Duty is out of commission, error comes up everywere. they should fix this problem since this is the only ps3 game i own.

There is obviously a problem with the update, and yes i’ve had the problem… the guy with no problems above must be xbox360 or something…

Yeah kinda angry.. Did fermware update 2.10 on PS3 then COD4 and blamo Fatial Error! I e-mailed sony have not heard a response i will post it once i get one from them… Hopefully! LOL oh no now PS3 has a X-Box problem cannot play games lamo.. stupid!

Yea, I bought CoD4 for its online, and now I cannot play it, Error 102, “DW Session create error 102- “BD_EXCEPTION_IN_DB” C’mon Seriously? Get it together.

I PLAY AUS COD4 I HAVENT HAD AN OPTION TO DOWNLOAD ANY UPDATE AT ALL I ALSO GET THIS ERROR 102 AND I HAVENT FOUND A GAME IN THE LAST 4 HOURS PLZ FIX THIS

Yeah i am from Australia there has been no update for me so i just play and most of the time i am lagging like crap but i can still play without any errors and cod4 is also the only game i have but it take me about 5 minutes to find a server because it never finds any aussy servers still add me on cod4 JamaicanPotato.

my roomate bought cod4…..updated the ps3 and everything. When i try to play online it says i need a update for the game. So i click the update and it trys to dwnload and it says an error (000000000) im very confused, been searching the internet for hours now. can anyone tell me whats wrong or if i did something wrong…

Hey james, i have had COD4 for the Ps3 for awhile now. I have had no problems what so ever. Make sure you go to system update when you turn you ps3 on. After that, which may take awhile depending on your connection, you simply click on the multiplayer option after you turn call of duty 4 on and than click play online and it should update settings right there also. After all of that you should be able to succesfully get online and start to play.
