Gerstmann Not Fired Due to Review

CNet has stated that Jeff Gerstmann was not fired due to a Kane & Lynch review.

“While reiterating that CNET does not discuss personal employee matters with the press, [Sarah Cain, a CNET spokesperson] said directly that “we do not terminate employees based on external pressure from advertisers.” When asked specifically about whether any such pressure was even attempted on Eidos’ part, Cain had no comment.”

CNet did not disclose, however, why Gerstmann was fired, stating it was an internal matter.

    It seems that it’s not that Eidos was the one who put the pressure, rather from a new regime at Gamespot corporate:

    That’s hearsay and gossip.

    And the article quote isn’t exactly saying the review wasn’t what got him canned.

    Cnet is saying Eidos didn’t put any pressure on them to fire Gerstmann. Either way, something fishy went down, and it’s not looking good for Gamespot’s image.

    If you have a subscription to a Gamespot newsletter, cancel it as I have. It’ll send a tiny message to CNet.

    Re-subscribe at a later date if you so desire.

    Send what message?

    @Jonah

    Your question is a comment on a behaviour that I need to correct, in this instance. I shall re-instate my email subscription and unsubscribe at a more appropriate occasion.

    Thanks.
