More and more mainstream news publications are naming their Games of the Year. In this case, the Contra Costa Times has awarded Rock Band their top prize.
In the past three years, no other developer has had a bigger impact on the industry than Harmonix. With “Guitar Hero,” the studio introduced a revolution in the music-rhythm genre, setting sales records and bringing games further into the mainstream. What does it do for an encore? The same team made “Rock Band,” which is the pinnacle of that game design. Focused on collaborative gameplay with drums, guitars and vocals, this is the one title you’ll be coming back to, with its downloadable content and numerous instruments to master.
Rock Band is followed by The Orange Box, Super Mario Galaxy, BioShock, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Halo 3, Mass Effect, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords, and God of War II.
