RUMOR: Metal Gear Solid 4 to 360, Again

Here we go again. Since the Xbox 360 started selling millions of Capcom titles at will (see Dead Rising, Lost Planet, etc.), and Metal Gear Solid 2 appeared on the Xbox, a Metal Gear Solid 4-to-360 rumor has been old news, and plentiful.
Well, Konami hasn’t exactly squelched those rumors, either.
An unnamed Konami rep apparently dropped some knowledge on Xbox Family, whispering that MGS4 would sneak onto the Xbox 360 12 to 14 months after the PS3 version is released (whenever that is). The site also published a lengthy email from Microsoft’s John Porcaro basically saying “no comment” which they also suspect may be further proof of the rumor. (Why did he write so much? He’s very polite, you know.)
With Konami execs straight up saying that Metal Gear Solid 4 may go to other consoles, and MGS4 producer Ryan Payton saying the game needs to sell a million copies on day one to make the pricey production profitable, it’s not like Konami’s showing their best poker face either.
(Thanks, Joystiq.)

What’s the point? I don’t think the Xbox version of MGS2 sold well at all.

At the time, the PS2 was predominant. Now, even so-so titles (ie. Lost Planet) sell 1M copies for the Xbox 360, while AAA titles for the PS3 (ie. UT3, Ratchet & Clank, Heavenly Sword, etc.) don’t sell at all.

When I decided to get the XBOX 360 I knew I wouldn’t be getting a PS3. I made that decision knowing I might never play MG4 and FF13. But, I made it because I thought Microsoft had a better idea what they were doing with their console and had better support from 3rd party developers as well. I haven’t been disappointed yet. While the PS3 and Sony fumble around, I continue to see great games released for my console, selling in good numbers. Konami and SquareEnix, see it to and I believe corporate greed will see them moving their titles over too…
