As promised, the first map pack for Halo 3, the “Heroic Map Pack” which was released for 800 Microsoft Points ($10) on December 11 will be made free, in time for the “Legendary Map Pack” which comes out on April 15, according to a new posting at Bungie. Also at the posting is a nifty top-down map of the Avalanche map, which shows where all the items and weapons are placed, which is pretty helpful, to say the least.
As for when the Legendary map pack will be free, Bungie’s response is coy: “We are not currently aware of any plans to release the Legendary Maps for free.”
Our best guess? August, three months after release.

800 points for three months of early bird gaming. For a Halo 3 enthusiast, that’s a lot cheaper than buying a game that might last two weeks.
I just wish they could bring out additional Halo Campaign chapters that I could buy. I’d be in heaven then.
Oh well, Halo Wars will have to fill in the gaps of my hobby addiction from time to time.

Have they lost their minds? I’ve layed down 10 € for 3 maps, which afterwards turned out to be a rip off, and now they bring it out for free?
