Sony Dumping Sixaxis

In a blow for “next-gen” technology, Sony is dumping phasing out Sixaxis (or SIXAXIS!) motion control in their controllers.

This shouldn’t come as much of a … shock, but Sony is discontinuing the Sixaxis in light of the DualShock 3’s arrival, according to MTV. A Sony rep says that you can likely expect them to all be gone by summertime.

This may come as a great shock to Sony execs two years ago who dismissed rumble as “last-gen” technology - especially since the DualShock 3 will feature DualShock 2 rumble from the PS2.

Hrm. I might be reading your post wrong but it sounds like you’re saying they’re removing motion control. That isn’t the case. The DualShock 3 will still have motion control as well as “last-gen” rumble. =)

They’re phasing it out. Which means, they won’t be making games for motion control, and eventually, none of the controllers will have Sixaxis inside it.

[...] is reporting that Lair will be getting a pitch for analog controls, since Sony is dumping SIXAXIS Sixaxis. Will this improve the game, and not force Sony to teach reviews “how to play”? Who [...]
