Comic Con: Day One

As a native New York City boy, it’s nice when finally a major geek convention invades New York instead of San Francisco, Pasadena, Los Angeles, San Diego, and whatever town that happens to not be on the East Coast. As a bonus, it’s at the Jacob Javits Center, a few blocks away from where I live.

There are a few articles to be written about my wanderings, like Civilization Revolution, Eve Online, Warhammer Online, and Roogoo (I know what you’re asking - Roowhat?), but for now, a few photos taken today while wandering around doing some work.

This pic was actually taken yesterday as workers slapped on the graphics for Wizards of the Coast hyping up Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition.

UGO.com, G4 and a bunch of other sponsors had Teh Quake Online Truck, allowing people to do a little deathmatching on the Xbox 360 version of Quake Wars. I did not partake, but by 4pm, there was a steady crush of people having it out.

Speaking of the Xbox 360, Yu-Gi-Oh! makes its debut on the console as well.

Not to ignore the PlayStation 3, there were plenty of folks having some fun with the upcoming Metal Gear Online.

Of course, there were plenty of models hired for various booths - sort of reminiscient of the old E3, though Comic Con is nowhere as loud, thank God. But my personal fave was at the Civilization Revolution booth - as Cleopatra and a very hunky barbarian entertained folks.

You have to wonder what Sid will think of them when he makes his appearance at the booth tomorrow.

Hope you enjoyed this brief photo tour of Comic Con - later, I will get more into depth of specific games, such as Civilization Revolution, that were tried out.

totally agreed that the civilization booth was the hottest (in every sense of the word) property at comic con. you didn’t get the hunky barbarian’s name did you? i’d like to recommend him to some friends who may need a model for their booth at some upcoming conventions.

Thanks for the appreciation of the 2K Civilization Revolution booth! We create the entire experience for them. I’m glad you liked our models, Kia and Anthony. Let me know if you would be interested in meeting them.
