Companies Abandoning E3 In Droves

If you didn’t need evidence that the Electronic Entertainment Expo was dead, Joystiq is reporting that Activision, Vivendi, NCSoft, and Foundation 9 are all skipping E3 2008. Ouch. This is serious, since there’s a ton of upcoming games by these companies, such as Spore Creatures (Foundation 9), The Agency MMO (NCsoft), Silent Hill: Homecoming (Foundation 9), Starcraft (Vivendi), Guitar Hero: Aerosmith (Activision), and so forth.
Big companies never liked E3 – since it didn’t really benefit them. E3 was more of a coming out party for smaller company games that would normally never get big press (See: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.) Are you happy or sad that E3 is slowy dying?

I predicted this type of action was going to come, I was right…unfortunately. However, I’m sure I was like 1 of a million to predict this outcome after a year or so of crappy E3.
