If you’re a nerd, and I’m guessing you are since you’re reading this. You might want to head down to your nearest hobby store and pick up some books. What books? The new Players Handbook, Monster Manual, and Dungeon Masters Guide for Dungeon and Dragons 4th edition. The newest edition of D&D retreats from the hardcore rulesets, with dozen of graphs and charts. It seems the designers at Wizards of the Coast have learned a few lessons from MMOs and have streamlined the rules to make playing easier, and put the emphasis on character development and story-telling. I’m hearing a lot of good things about this from friends who haven’t played since AD&D. They’re having a blast and are exicted to get new people involved, so if you’re an old veteran or a dice virgin follow the link to learn more!
Jonah Falcon will have a review of the new books this week, and you can read his story about D&D moving into the online space.
(Thanks, Wizards of the Coast.)
