FireFox and Mozilla Set Sights on Guinness

Mozilla’s upstart web browser Firefox, the bastard child of Netscape, is seeing it’s 3.0 release next week on the 17 of June. Mozilla has stated that this new version of their popular broswer is the best yet, with “more than 15,000 improvements, Firefox 3 is faster, safer and smarter than before.” In an attempt to gain greater publicity and downloads they’ve launched “Download Day 2008” a website that urges Firefox fans, users, and newbies to download the Firefox 3 on its release day, so that Firefox 3 and Mozilla can enter the Guinness Book of World Records as ‘the most downloaded file in a single day.’

Mozilla Firefox is the 2nd most popular browser behind Microsoft’s ubiquitous Internet Explorer. Its share of the browser market has grown from nothing to nearly 20% in the last couple of years.
