RUMOR: Loose “Lips” Sink Ships

Joystiq is rumormongering that Elite Beat Agents developer, iNiS is working on Microsoft’s Lips project. Lips is the codename given to the karaoke game Microsoft has in the works to combat the popularity of Sony’s Songstar for the PS3.
Though, why anyone would buy a PS3 or Xbox 360 just to do karaoke is beyond me. A good karaoke machine won’t cost you more than $200, and that’s if you want one that includes its own lyric monitor.
For more information on project Lips you can look here. The story regarding iNis working on a 360 project is here.
Take this info with a big grain of salt… If half the rumors we’ve seen come out regarding Microsoft so far are true, they won’t have anything new to report at E3.
EDITORIAL RESPONSE: One of the biggest reasons Rock Band is popular is the mike for vocals. Karaoke Revolution has been highly successful, and one of the demographics that Microsoft would love are preteen and teen girls. Besides, you can’t get Achievements with a karaoke machine. - Jonah Falcon
