Piracy Sucks, But Customers Rock

When it comes to piracy, most companies will lock down their games with enough safety measures that we have to jump through loops to play the game. We’re either dealing with phone home issues where games just don’t seem to work if your network connection is down or installing a 8GB  program which still requires us to put the DVD in the drive to play.

Or, you can be more like Stardock, who has always has stuck with the no serial key “free for all” method of safety. If you want the game, you’ll buy it, if you steal it then you’re going to hell, but they’re not the judge.

In a time where internet connections are getting bigger and piracy is getting easier, Stardock holds true to the fact that they know they’ll lose sales to pirates but are not willing to make the rest of us “pay for their sins” because of a few rotten apples.

Stardock states, “the people who actually buy games don’t want to be inconvenienced or treated like a criminal.” Very true Stardock, thank you for losing a few sales in order to make the rest of us happier.

(Thanks, Joystiq)

I agree. If someone wants to pirate a game they are going to find a way no matter how many restrictions you put on it…..Some of the rest of us would just like to play Steam single player games even when we don’t have a connection to the internet.
