Japan Gets Phantasy Star Portable

The next iteration of the iconic Phantasy Star series is coming to PlayStation Portable in Japan. So, if you’re a big fan of Sega’s RPG series, best start writing some letters ’cause the game isn’t slated for a North American or European release. Fans in Japan though can get in on the the new game on July 14 when the demo is released through the Playstation Store and at select brick and mortar retailers, and coming in at just over 300 MB, it’s more than bite (byte?) size. The demo will allow you to experience both story mode (the first chapter) and multiplayer mode (five missions), even better you’ll be able to transfer your saved game from the demo into the game when you purchase it on the on the 31st.

I never had a Sega Master System or Genesis, so I missed out on the early Phantasy Stars. My first experience with the franchise was on my Sega Dreamcast playing Phantasy Star Online (I think I actually still have my saved game.) Hopefully, this will come Stateside and we’ll be able to see if it lives up to expectations.

Nice, but I don’t see it hitting US shelves.
