Stores Prepare for Xbox 360 Price Slash

We already had good evidence that this was coming, but these next two put the nail into the coffin of this just being a rumor: the Xbox Pro is getting cheaper.

Someone who works over at Gamestop has put up a picture of the promotional material for the new Xbox 360 price on-line. According the picture the price change will happen this Sunday, July 13. The other piece of evidence, a good deal too, is this alleged scan of Target’s mailer for this week, showing that starting Sunday Target will be selling Xbox 360 20GB Pros for $299, if you buy one, Target will give you 25 bucks for free (in the form of a Target gift card).

If you haven’t bought an Xbox360 yet, now might be a good time to get one? Or you might hold-off a month or so to see if the Arcade version of the console also gets a price cut. We haven’t heard anything on this, so don’t get your hopes too high. This price reduction might just be to clear out inventory for a new SKU. That new SKU should be making its appearance at E3, so whatever waiting we have to do won’t be long!

It’ll be a relief to have this all cleared up.

(Thanks X3F for all the news windfall.)
