Activision is big now, they’ve got a new name: Activision Blizzard and now that they’ve transformed like a bad ass Destructicon and have decided to target a new enemy… a big enemy. Activision thinks they can compete against iTunes, a little well known online music store.
“I don’t think there have been a lot of credible alternatives to iTunes, but Guitar Hero certainly has that potential,” says Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick. He’s got a point, Guitar Hero has brought on a brand new music medium in interactive audio experiences. Would it be that far off to start selling these audio tracks for mass consumption?
iTunes is a huge beast with a large audience, the amount of money Activision is going to have to put up to compete agains this 1000 pound gorilla will be substantial. But, after all, they’ve got World of Warcraft helping them financially now…
(Thanks, 1up)
