Above is the G4 video of the Microsoft E3 conference. We did comment on stuff as it happened.
Click “Read more…” for the stuff as it happened.

Don Mattrick talks about the past, and now is talking the future.
Tons of Fallout 3 and live play!

(Oops! hehe)

And only the Xbox 360 will have downloadable content for Fallout 3.
Then they showed off co-op gameplay in Residental Evil 5.

Next, Fable 2.

Yes, slo mo bird poop.

That orb? It’s your friend who’s online - in case you want to invite him into your game.

Hanging out with your online bud.

Next, Gears of War 2, and some HOT FOOTAGE.

CliffyB shows off some multiplayer Gears of War 2 action.

And now, they’re talking about the Fall Updat with… Avatars! Looks like Microsoft wants Home before Sony does. Doesn’t hurt that the Avatars look vaguely like Miis.

The more important thing is that the dashboard is more user-friendly and (hopefully) faster.
You can see what your friends are doing from word bubbles.
Now they’re talking about The Big Show, in which your Mii Avatar plays a live Game Show with 100 other Miis Avatars.
A new game called UNO Rush with the Avatars.
They’re showing off now Geometry Wars 2 and a true sequel to Galaga, Galaga: Legions. It looks like it’s borrowed something from GeoWars 2.
PORTAL TO XBOX LIVE ARCADE - and a South Park based XBLA game.
The rumors are true: Netflix on Xbox 360. AND ITS FREE FOR XBOX LIVE GOLD OWNERS!

Shane Kim’s on the stage. He’s talking about the usual 3rd party titles, but bragging about the GTA4 downloadable content - later this year.
Banjo Kazooie 3 is being shown off now. Looks awesome. Oh, and the first Banjo game’s coming to Xbox Live Arcade. The Viva Pinata sequel, Trouble in Paradise is being shown off as well. Not much different from the first game, but now co-op play and new pinatas.
The Scene It! sequel is being shown off, too, Box Office Smash.
There’s a new Xbox Live Camera game You’re in the Movies in which you do a lot of wacky stuff like run like a clown and swat bugs. Then it takes your movements and turns it into a movie. Weird.
Guitar Hero World Tour now being shown off - 85 songs on the disc. GH Tunes will allow people to create and share songs. Metallica will have an exclusive partnership with GH, and their latest album coming out this September will be released on GH.
Uh oh, here comes teh LIPS. Wireless flashing mikes - very SingStar. And you can import songs from your Zune.
Interestingly enough, after the Avatars were announced, every speaker is preceded by their Avatar equivalent.
ALRIGHT! IPOD SUPPORT! Whew. I was worried.
Now it gets interesting - Microsoft had on Guitar Hero World Tour - now they’re bringing up the chief competition - EA’s Rock Band 2. Wow.
Ok, Metallica is with Guitar Hero World Tour - and AC/DC is with Rock Band 2. Rock-n-roller cola wars all over again.

The entire song list of Rock Band 2 - 84 songs on disc -100 total available at launch. Can you read this?
As announced, every DLC from Rock Band is available, and every song is available from both titles on either disc so you don’t need to swap.

Now, it’s Square-Enix. They’re to show off their 3 titles: Infinite Undiscovery, Star Ocean, and Last Remnant.

The Last Remnant will also be coming out for Windows, too.
FINAL FANTASY XIII TO XBOX 360.

It’s amazing how Microsoft knows how to land haymakers at its own press conference. Wowzers.
That’s it! Let us know what you think.

Fallout 3, Fable and GoW2 all look great! I’m mostly excited about Fallout though. I covered the rumor of MS Avatars and didnt like the idea, Im not looking for a lame virtual world to be in… the gameshow sounds nice though I wouldnt want to play with 5 or 6 people.
Hmm…

Ipod support for what? If I can turn my 360 into a karaoke machine then that’s awesome! Also excited about getting Portal by itself on live! I’m definity going to need a new HD for my 360 though…

End of show and no Bungie announcement.
Huh?
July 14th, 2008 at 3:10 pm
Well, you can use the Zune to import songs to Lips - but they added you can use your iPod, too.
July 14th, 2008 at 3:11 pm
DEEP_NNN? Maybe Bungie didn’t want Final Fantasy XIII to overshadow their game. No matter what they did, unless it’s actually Halo 4, that news would splatter them. They’ll do their own thing at E3, I’m sure.

I knew it, PS3 just doesnt have the numbers SquareENix needs to make FF13 pay off for them, this is a terrible blow to Sony as FF13 was the only thing that could make me buy a PS3… Yikes thats gotta to hurt when you lose exclusivity like that. But then I think console makers are having to work harder to get these… They can no longer dictate what comes out when… developers can make their game for every platform
July 14th, 2008 at 3:18 pm
Metal Gear Solid 4 is next - as soon as the limited exclusivity gag is lifted.
July 14th, 2008 at 3:24 pm
well then I won’t ever need a ps3, just get a new ps2 slim before they stop making them and my old one dies…
