E3: Home Will Be Region Locked

Another slap in the face to PlayStation 3 owners, as PS3 Fanboy is reporting that the public areas of Home will be region locked.
If you want to meet up with your pals from abroad, then you’ll be able to invite them into your apartment, but warping into the game space to bowl or play chess is not possible. This is allegedly to make sure that each region receives an “experience most suited to their tastes” as well as, no doubt, to keep advertisers happy. The last thing they want is Europeans seeing an advert directed at Americans.
Where are Sony’s priorities? While it’s understandable that film and television is regional due to distribution deals, this makes no sense. Well, save the fact that Sony would actually have to perhaps buy servers to have open servers region-free – but that would force Sony to (gasp!) charge for it. PlayStation Network is free, so you have no right to complain if the service isn’t comprehensive.
