David Reeves, the head of Sony Europe, has confirmed what many of us already suspected, that Europe and other PAL regions will not be seeing the Sony Video Store this year, Reeves made the announcement in Santa Monica last Thursday.
Reeves went on to emphasize that Sony President, Sir Howard Stringer was committed to bring the Video Store to all regions, though times and dates haven’t been given. Reeves said that specifics would be forthcoming, by the end of the year, and then went on to explain the delay, “For us… local content is key and that is exactly what we’re working on right now.”
Looks like Europe won’t be getting their Store until Sony hammers out a deal with the BBC and other regional television companies, as well as European film houses… Oh and as we previously reported don’t bother trying to get into the American store if you’re in Europe, it won’t work.
(Thanks, Eurogamer.)
