Nintendo Power’s Big Reveal: Sonic

If you get Nintendo Power, or follow gaming news closely on-line, then you already know that last month the editors of the magazine promised a big reveal in the next issue. You can imagine how internet forums lit up over that little tidbit… Rumors were flying! Nintendo Power was going to announce the next Metroid, or Star Fox, or a new Earthbound would be coming to next-gen consoles, you know everyone took the editors at their word and though there was going to be a big announcement. And then we see this, yup that’s the supposed cover of the latest edition of Nintendo Power… Go ahead let it soak in… Sonic with a big old broadsword. Feel sick yet? I do.
This isn’t any sort of announcement. Sega makes another crappy Sonic game?! That stopped being news, 8 years ago. Terrible Sonic games are a tradition at this point, a cottage industry practically. So how is that news? Or maybe, just maybe the Nintendo Power people aren’t even trying anymore, or don’t have the wherewithal to try…
