COMIC CON: Another Marvel Vs. Capcom Coming?

marvel-vs-capcom by you.Like all the announcements that are coming out of this year’s San Diego Comic Convention, this one is completely unofficial and built largely on hearsay and speculation. I swear, you’d think these guys (heads of companies, developers, publishers, etc.) had no idea what the Internet was and were unaware that everything they say eventually ends up there. Then, they act amazed and stunned when they have to release official statements disclaiming everything that was said.

So here’s the latest one: Kevin Feige, President of Production at Marvel Studios, in response to a question about the next Marvel vs. Capcom, said, “Yes. And maybe sooner than you think.” Whoa. Now Marvel and Capcom are going to be inundated with clamors for more details on a game that might only be on a planning board in a closet behind a janitorial bucket. Oh, well, guess we’ll find out in a couple of weeks when the inevitable press release comes out.

To fuel your delusion that this game is happening as we speak, Capcom has a game in production right now, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Cross Generation of Heroes. While you’ll never see this game unless you go to Japan, the game’s engine and graphic set are all already there and porting in some Marvel characters wouldn’t prove that difficult.

(I’ve always liked Marvel Vs. Capcom, mostly because it was easy to pull off awesome combos, and I took perverse pleasure in using Mega Man to kill people, so if this did happen I wouldn’t be disappointed.)
