Spore is Gold (Almost)
Many thought this day would never come. Some gave up hope long ago and have moved on. Many though, many have held out, their faith stronger and they are about to be rewarded, for Spore is a week away from going GOLD. Three years after it was announced, and four years since development began, the game is only about a week away from entering mass production, revealed Game Producer, Thomas Vu, to CNET. If so, then the game is still on schedule for its release on the first week of September.
Revealing EA’s plans for the Spore in the future, in a conference call with game journalists, CEO John Riccitiello said this, “We’ve got a clear, obvious, and very compelling post-launch monetization opportunity.” So now worries EA is still EA and they plan on pimping the hell out of Spore (expansion pack after expansion pack much like they’ve done with the The Sims).
With the success of just the Creature Creator (already more species created than actually exist on the planet), a small part of the whole Spore experience, I don’t think EA is going to have any problem moving this game off of shelves and on to hard drives. I’m guessing Spore is going to be a license to print money.
