EA Sports Demos Hit Marketplace

Facebreaker and Madden NFL 09New EA Sports demos appeared on Xbox Live Marketplace this morning amongst the crowd of downloadable content that you might find interesting/necessary to download.

The first is the demo for Madden NFL 09. What do you get if you download this 1+ GB demo? The graphics in 09 are noticeably better, than 08. The demo has two modes: Madden Test and a Madden Moment. The former is a series of simulated drills that lets the game determine the skill level of the player, so it adjusts the difficulty of the game accordingly. This means if you suck, the game will get easier, and if you’re awesome the game will get more difficult. Madden Moments recreate famous plays, moments, events in Football history, but with you in control (Madden NFL 09 is definitely suffering from feature fatigue). The moment they’ve put in the demo gives you 1 minute and 30 seconds to score as the New York Giants versus the New England Patriots faced with a 4th and 1 situation, if this sounds familiar it should as something just like that occurred last year in Super Bowl XLII. It remains to be seen if Madden NFL 09 is just 08 + Roster Updates.

The other demo is for boxing fans, specifically those who don’t really like boxing but have always loved Punch-Out. EA’s demo for FaceBreaker came out this morning as well, clocking in at just under a gigabyte. The demo lets you try out three different boxers, in two district arenas, and if you own the Xbox camera you’ll be able to put your face, or anybody’s face, onto the fighters in the game! FaceBreaker is an over the top, exaggerated boxing game much like the old-school favorite Punch-Out!

Hmmm. Super Punch-Out on Xbox Live Arcade… there’s an idea!

(Thanks, Major Nelson - twice.)
