Codemasters has announced that they were developing Overlord 2, the sequel to their fantastic, funny minion-tossing game in which you play a recovering evil warlord taking over the country. In addition, they also announced two new Overlord games for the Wii and DS.
With the Glorious Empire as the foe and a new overlord brought into the fold, you can be sure you’ll be seeing a more diverse set of environments. Sas told IGN, “We have new lands, from the icy (but rather festive) Nordberg where minions face up to vicious seals, to a new Magic Sanctuary Domain, where the magical creatures have retreated from the onslaught of the Empire, to the homelands and cities of the Glorious Empire itself.”
The Wii version, called Overlord: Dark Legend, will feature a new protagonist:
Dark Legend will feature an original tongue-in-cheek storyline penned by award-winning games author Rhianna Pratchett, and is set to include a host of old and new franchise-favorite characters, including Halflings, trolls, elves and dwarves, as well as new wicked witches, gingerbread men, and Lil’ Red Riding Hood, “the seeming sweet girl with a very personal lupine secret.”
The DS version, called Overlord: Minions, is quite different:
Overlord Minions, a puzzle action game, is being developed by Climax Studios exclusively for the Nintendo DS system. Giblet, Blaze, Stench, and Zap are yours to command – in the game, players command the Overlord’s minions using the Nintendo DS stylus – touch commands will attack enemies and solve puzzles.
Are you ready to smack some minion jester around again?
