- Filed in Action, Contests, Microsoft Xbox 360, Press Release, Xbox Live Arcade
[UPDATE: Check here for the contest winner.]
If you enjoyed our contest to win a free copy of The Political Machine 2008, hang onto your hats as well are primed to give away a free copy of Castle Crashers, which comes out on August 27, 2008.
The rules for this contest are very simple: write in the comment section what is your favorite movie with a castle, and why it’s the castle is so great in it – minimum 30 words. Only one entry per IP address, and you must have a valid email and Xbox Live account – or we can’t send you the freakin’ code to unlock it. Doesn’t matter what the film is – Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Krull, The Lion in Winter, The Castle of Fu Manchu, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, etc, etc. It just has to have a castle in it that figures somehow into the plot. Points are given for originality; either you have to have a special reason for loving the castle, or you mention the film first (the examples given here don’t count as “first”, so go ahead and use them if one of them really is your fave.)
The contest expires at 12:00pm EST on August 26. This contest is not affiliated with anyone that matters like Microsoft, Behemoth, Alien Hominid, Timmy Bobby Rusty or The Coke Guy Lucky Vanous.

Obviously, the castle containing Zoot, Piglet, Winston, Dingo, and all of the other lovelies from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Not for the castle itself (which is nicely decorated with linens and candles), but for the fact that it is the home to such fetching and… rambunctious ladies.
August 18th, 2008 at 9:56 pm
Without a doubt it would be Lord of the Rings. It has several castles in it so you can pick and choose which is your favorite! Minas Tirith, the one in Gondor, Sauron’s, etc. This is a veritble castle smorgasbord!
August 18th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
The little midgets (littel person’s) peanut butter castle in that movie The Bench Warmers. It was sweet, literaly. And that dude was casting spells. Come On!
August 18th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
It would have to Hogwarts castle, from any of the Harry Potter movies. I love it because it has so many mysteries and secrets hidden in it.
August 18th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
I have to go with the castle in Army of Darkness. The Pit, Sam Ash, and his boomstick. “Shop smart. Shop S-Mart.”
August 18th, 2008 at 11:02 pm
The castle in The Princess Bride is wonderful because Inigo chases the six fingered man through it and finally avenges his father’s death. “Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.” Classic.
August 18th, 2008 at 11:42 pm
I would have to go with Howl’s Moving Castle on this one. Great Story, Great Voice acting, Awsome Animation, the Castle MOVES!!! and when ya got Christian Bale aka BATMAN in it how can it go wrong. one of my fav anime’s. to bad only limited to 1 cuz i got another great movie.
August 18th, 2008 at 11:43 pm
my favorite castle that is in a movie would have to be hogwarts in harry potter. the castle has so many emotions, so many different pathways and that is the kind of castle i like. hogwarts is a castle truly suitable for a harry potter movie.
August 19th, 2008 at 12:08 am
My favourite movie with a castle has to be Highlander,
a shed load of immortals losing there heads, there can be only 1.
August 19th, 2008 at 12:29 am
I would have to say the Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, that was one big castle there. There where tons of battering rams just trying to attempt to get in through the gates….
August 19th, 2008 at 12:31 am
I would have to say The Lord of the Rings: The return of the King, that was a pretty big castle, there were tons of batterying rams and towers just trying to get in during the battle…
August 19th, 2008 at 12:45 am
I must say the famous, Dracula’s Castle. Simply because of the sheer darkness of it, and the eerie feeling of just imagining Dracula residing in the darkness.
August 19th, 2008 at 1:16 am
I’m going to go with Robin Hood. Seeing a guy split an arrow with another arrow rocks.
August 19th, 2008 at 1:33 am
I’d choose the castle in Edward Scissorhands. I like the fact that is is at the end of a cul de sac, surrounded by pastel-colored houses, and yet no one seems concerned about their property values or what might be going on there. They just keep to themselves and ignore it. Sort of makes you understand when the news reports on long-deceased bodies being found, when the neighbors never wondered why they hadn’t seen the old man next door in several years.
August 19th, 2008 at 2:27 am
Easily the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Minas Tirith, Saurons Tower in Mordor, Helms Deep, just some amazing looking castles/fortresses. I especially like the design of Minas Tirith, Its just huge.
August 19th, 2008 at 2:32 am
Masters of the Universe, definintly had the best castle, which was Castle Greyskull. How kick ass is it, to fight off evil everyday trying to siege your castle?
August 19th, 2008 at 2:36 am
I love the castle in Top Secret the best. C’mon, you gotta love the fact that they turn off the alarm in a disguise of a cow wearing boots (feel sorry for the guy in the rear of the costume). And having the dude punch the guard off the tower and shattering like glass was classic. Or maybe I’m just showing my age. LOL
August 19th, 2008 at 2:46 am
I like the castle in Top Sercet! the best. You have to love a castle who’s only weakness is to dress up as a cow wearing boots to sneak up to a shack to disable the alarm, only to have a horny bull charge up and take advantage of the poor person in the back of the costume. LOL
August 19th, 2008 at 3:38 am
Quite simply the castle of Camelot from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Why you might ask? Because as Patsy puts it with quite a bit of diligence; “It’s just a model”, which speaks volumes about not only that castle, but for other castles in movies, games, and even drawings! It explains everything a child would ask before they ask it, unless that child is blind, in which case he won’t need to worry about this kind of stuff anyways.
August 19th, 2008 at 5:19 am
Some of the most better castles would have to be Reign of Fire or from Time Line. The one with time line where the church is connected to the castle. So castle crashers attack from under ground to destroy the castle.
August 19th, 2008 at 6:05 am
Without a doubt the castles in the movie “Excalibur” were the best because of the sheer raw portrayal of medieval life the movie put into perspective. They were raw and gritty yet also very lordly in appearance.
August 19th, 2008 at 10:00 am
I dig the castle in The Princess Bride (though I am not sure it is a castle) because the end “EPIC BATTLE” takes place there.
GT: Etan Lawok
August 19th, 2008 at 10:19 am
Brother’s Grimm! The castle was practically alive…if not totally alive. You can’t beat strange, eerie castles that have magical powers. Not to mention the whole forest would change around while you were in it. That almost sounds like a great game concept!
August 19th, 2008 at 11:09 am
How about ‘The Last Castle’ with Robert Redford? Not only is the castle a high security prison, but with Robert Redford’s character leading the charge the inmates overthrow the place and take over the castle. If that isn’t Castle Crashing I don’t know what is!
August 19th, 2008 at 12:44 pm
Army of Darkness. Unforgetable moments. Ash – Good, bad, I’m the guy with the gun. / This is my boomstick!*Holds up shotgun* The castle just really pulls everything together, like glue.
August 19th, 2008 at 1:55 pm
Obviously “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” Particularly, Castle Anthrax. When I first watched this movie, Castle Anthrax symbolized the coming of age as a young prepubescent boy. I mean c’mon, how many castles do you know that are filled with horny young ladies.
August 19th, 2008 at 2:21 pm
Movie with a castle?
For me is Underworld (the first one, not Underworld EVO). It’s the immortal battle for supremacy between Vampires and Lycans. Basing the two species on a genetic, scientific idea makes them work exceedingly well, and removes all those problems that mysticism brings to a film, like reflections or holy items. It’s slick, modern, fast-paced action combined with classic, Gothic Vampire & Werewolf ideas, like the Vamp’s high-tech weapons being kept in a massive, stately castle. This movie reminds me a lot with Romeo and Juliet. I don’t know why I was thinking of this. But I was wondering if anybody else had noticed the similarieties. Vampires and Lycans are the Montagues and Capulets. Romeo is Michael (Lycan) and Juliet is Selene (Vampire).
Too bad… the sequel SUCKS!

My favorite movie with a castle in it has to be Macbeth, whats better then sitting in class laughing at Macbeth’s head rolling down the castle stairs to cap off a wonderful movie.
August 19th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
Harold and Kumar go to White Castle.
Because the movie had a castle as the essential quest to the plot, but they never made it to the ‘Castle’. And I’ve never seen it.
August 19th, 2008 at 4:55 pm
the castle in lord of the rings it was like a huge city holding many people and also it was like impossible to get into
probably the best castle in my opinion.

August 19th, 2008 at 5:15 pm
My pick for a movie castle would be the castle from Wizard of OZ. The castle owned by the Wicked Witch houses an army of Flying Monkeys. The Flying Monkey’s and their awesome marching song pretty much made the castle what it is. The exterior screamed evil, dark and large stones. The interior was boring and lighted by candles. Awesome

August 19th, 2008 at 6:33 pm
Well the best castle from a movie is oviously the castle in Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, because the battle in that castle was epic, it had over a million orges attacking and even though the humans/elves lost it was the greatest
August 19th, 2008 at 7:52 pm
While there are many great works of cinema involving the amazing feats of engineering known as castles, only one castle film could possibly rank above the rest. I am speaking (well typing) of course, of the Oscar worthy tale, “Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle.” The mythical quest of what two fellows of New Jersey will do for munchie-satisfying tiny hamburgers is an inspiration to all the knights looking to crash castles that follow. Plus, ya know, it had Doogie Howser in it.
August 19th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
My favorite castle movie doesn’t involve any knights, or any “castles” per se, but Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle is probably my top pick.
The epic journey to the glorious White Castle is both entertaining and inspiring (as well as delicious!). White Castle burgers take a toll on the stomach, but are totally worth eating. The Castle simply symbolizes scrumptious-ness!
(Plus, you just can’t go wrong with Neil Patrick Harris.)

My favorite movie with a castle is The Count of Monte Cristo. The way Edmond Dantes escapes the castle and seeks revenge on those who betrayed him makes for an awsome action movie.
August 19th, 2008 at 11:24 pm
I have not seen alot of movies with castles involved, but if there is one to recall, it would be the epic journey of Harold And Kumar Go To White Castle. but you may wonder, wheres the battles and the knights, and does this movie in involve a real castle? Of course not! instead of noble knights and all things medievil, we get 2 nobly hilarious pot heads on the search for a long forgotten franchise of hamburgers to crave their munchies at, you guessed it, White Castle. Once you see through to the characters, you think hey these ARE 2 brave knights, taking their chances against racist cops, nerds, and vicious raccoons. Yes, they are heroes indead. Hey, wait a minute. WTF! NEIL PATRICK HARRIS?! that is epic. SIGH ME UP!!!

For sho the best has to be Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Never has an arrow set on fire flying through the air looked so sick! Castles galore too Mmmmmmmmmm.
August 20th, 2008 at 2:23 am
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and Castle Grayskull for the win! Home to the sorceress and a place of refuge for He-man and his friends, not only is the castle badass looking it contains secret powers that Skeletor would love to get his hands on…… but thankfully He-man and friends are there to foil his evil plans and keep Castle Greyskulls secrets safe…. for now.
“By the power of Grayskull…I have the POWER!”
August 20th, 2008 at 8:01 am
As you wish…
The Princess Bride is one of my favorite movies with a castle in it. The moments of storming the castle with a holocaust cloak and Andre the Giant’s threatening ability to rip Yellin’s arms off are awesome.
Plus:
“My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die…”
August 20th, 2008 at 10:25 am
Favorite movie with a castle: The Punisher
Best Castle: Frank Castle
Why: He takes names and kicks a lot of butt throughout the whole movie! Plus, hes coming back in Punisher: War Zone!
This Is Not Revenge. It’s Punishment!
August 20th, 2008 at 11:51 am
I have to agree with Harold and Kumar Goe to White Castle.
August 20th, 2008 at 7:47 pm
“I don’t want to talk to you no more, you empty headed animal food trough wiper. I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries.” Of course, who can forget Monty Python and the Holy Grail… Best. Movie. Evar.

I would have to say my favorite movie with a castle is Braveheart. And the reason for this is twofold. One because it is one of those movies that whenever I see it on TV as I am scanning through the channels it makes me stop and watch it over and over again. Which is the definition of a great movie IMO.
And the second is because I have actually been to the castle used to film a lot of the scenes in Braveheart. This past summer we took a 2 week vacation to Ireland and one of the places we visited was Trim Castle in Trim, County Meath, Ireland. Kind of funny that the best English looking castle they could use to film scenes in a movie about the history of Scotland happens to be in Ireland?
Here is a picture of my 18mo son in front of the central keep of Trim.

The castle in the Last Unicorn animated movie! With the awesome secret room behind the grandfather clock that is guarded by a skeleton that likes to drink wine!
The crashing waves of the ocean in-which the very water is haunted by unicorns that have been driven into the sea by the mad king and the red bull.
August 21st, 2008 at 9:45 pm
I prefer Robin Hood: Men in Tights. He just gets back home from the war in time to see his castle put on wheels and dragged away. Then his blind friend is just sittin’ on the toilet, completely unaware of it.
August 22nd, 2008 at 5:21 pm
The movie I like is titled “Castle” It is a flash series with stick people, but it is the most epic, best animated flash series in existence. DeletionQuality.net
It comes in several parts, and the first, and second parts suck, but Castle 3 A-B are awesome. Especially part C and D.
August 22nd, 2008 at 5:47 pm
“Oh, you beautiful babes from England, for whom we have traveled through time… will you go to the prom with us in San Dimas? We will have a most triumphant time!”
Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, damsels in distress, time travel, and George Carlin. You can’t help but love the movie and the castle scenes.
August 22nd, 2008 at 5:58 pm
Strange Brew.
In this castle resides the Brewmaster, and an epic battle takes place between brainwashed teams of hockey players. The scene where Bob drinks a vat full of beer is amazing, and this movie in the height of Canadian comedy.
If you think I’m wrong, shove off you hoser and look at the glorious movie poster to accompany it: http://img115.imageshack.us/img115/9364/63494679az6.jpg

I am definately going with “Robin Hood: Men in tights”, What is more glorious than the government repo-ing your castle and wheeling it away while you are on the “throne” dropping a duece!
August 22nd, 2008 at 7:41 pm
Well, I was always a fan of ze german castle in Indian Jones The Last Crusade, because well…it had wonderful tapestries…and was a secret nazi base.
August 23rd, 2008 at 2:42 am
The jade warlords castle in Forbidden Kingdom. Basically Jackie chan and Jet li are my favorite action/kung fu stars, they are probably the 2 most skilled fighters alive and you find them in one movie here, fighting each other at first, which noone would have ever thought would happen.
The scenes in the castle when the monkey king fights are crazy. The evil chick is really sexy too. Also its a first for chan or Li to be in a classic setting for a kung fu flick that made it to american theaters If my memory serves me right.
August 23rd, 2008 at 3:54 am
The castle in the movie Black Knight. The answer is obvious. Martin Lawrence and that hot chick do it in there. Awesome!
August 23rd, 2008 at 12:39 pm
The castle in Evil Dead:Army of Darkness; Arthur’s Court never looked so badass with Ash and his Chainsaw hand compadre.
August 23rd, 2008 at 11:17 pm
Young Frankenstein. Most of the movie takes place in the castle and its crazy violin playing in the middle of the night!
August 24th, 2008 at 1:08 am
The best film’s castle? DISNEY’S ROBIN HOOD
August 24th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Robin Hood Men in Tights. Best castle ever because 1.) it gets taken away on wheels revealing Blinkin on the throne and 2.) it has a bust of a topless woman in it. Plus it’s just a hilarious movie.
August 25th, 2008 at 2:02 am
Well “Howls Moving Castle” of course, the castle is walking for crying out loud, and the fire that keeps it “alive” is just hilarious through out, but the castle is the best castle simply because it has a door that you can turn a switch and it opens up to different areas which kinda defeats the purpose of it walking since you don’t need it to go anywhere, but everything about the castle is fantasical! I love Ghibli studio’s films
August 25th, 2008 at 1:44 pm
The Skesis castle in Jim Henson’s movie, The Dark Crystal really stands out to me. I was a kid when I first saw that film and I remember it being terribly disturbing. The geflings, the skesis, the creepy witch with one eye; they all looked like muppets from some bizzaro universe. After watching it, I never saw Sesame Street in the same light again.
August 25th, 2008 at 7:32 pm
You know, I’m gonna have ta go with the Time Castle from Galaxy Express 999 Movie. The first Anime I saw, you gotta love a castle that can travel instantly through time and space so the crazy cyborg who owns the thing can support his hobby: Hunting human beings for sport.
August 25th, 2008 at 7:40 pm
Oratu castle in Nosferatu. Absolute classic medieval castle.
August 25th, 2008 at 8:01 pm
Time Bandits. The castle that the little guys hang out with napoleon in. Relevant cause they are all little (including napoleon), just like the little castle crashers themselves.
August 25th, 2008 at 8:05 pm
Favorite movie with a castle would probably be Willow. I first watched it as a kid, and it’s definitely one of the best fantasy flicks of the 80s. It needs to be mentioned more often.
August 25th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
I like a castle that sells burgers (mmmm…. good), especially when you have the munchies. So harold and Kumar go to White Castle has to be my favorite…
NPH FTW!!!
August 25th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
Of course it’s “The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy” one of the best movies I’ve ever seen, the last one took 11 Oscar Awards, the earnings for the movie were crazy, the acting was phenomenon, visual effects were GREAT, the soundtrack was one of the best ever, Peter Moore did a really awesome job.

The Beast’s Castle in Disney’s Beauty and The Beast ‘91.
My Fave Rooms:
1. The Ballroom – Cherub’s on the ceiling.
2. The Library – Holy Shmoly’s I would never leave that room.
3. The Dining Room – The amazing chandelier’s.
4. The Courtyard – The fountain’s.
All the stained glass windows. And even the West Wing for when I was feeling dark. =)
August 25th, 2008 at 8:39 pm
Well, this will sound bizzarre but the castles in the star Wars Movies, like in the first movie, they are all so different and futuristic
August 25th, 2008 at 8:44 pm
Army of Darkness:
Ash crashes the party, screws up, and gets the castle owned by deadites. Only castle to have a portcullis for a book on a pedestal.
August 25th, 2008 at 8:48 pm
I love the castle from Monty Pyhthon and the Holy Grail. The french in the castle were hilarious. The way they talked, with their fake messed up accents and how the attacked. When I first watched it and stared at the TV and said”……..They……they just shot a COW!”

My favorite movie with a castle in it would have to be Army of Darkness. Ash with his chainsaw-hand is just so bad ass and when the deadite army attacks the castle he is leader of at the time the battle is so epic.
August 25th, 2008 at 8:54 pm
I would have to go with The Princess Bride. NO WAIT! Here’s why: I know it’s been mentioned, but you see it was the Princess Bride that I thought of the very instant I saw this game. It begins with the immortal line spoken by Billy Crystal:
“Have fun stormin’ the castle!”
“Think it’ll work?”
“It’ll take a miracle!”
That seems to be the whole point to this game: Storm the castle! Think you can do it? It’ll take a miracle.
August 25th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
Army of Darkness. Not only does it have a castle, it has Bruce Campbell fighting skeletons atop that castle, all while spouting some awesome one-liners.
August 25th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
Definately monty python and the Holy Grail. BY FAR!!!! Haha those silly french people just guarding the castle making their weird little noises and insulting intruders by saying “Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of eldeberries!”
Haha my gamertag is Calamar0 by the way.

I like the home movie I and my firned made with a castle made of plywood… unfortunately the camera imploded from the awesomeness of the video… and because my friend dropped it.
August 25th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
I really liked the movie Dragonheart because it had a really sweet dragon proof (well, almost dragon proof) castle in it. I also think it may have starred Kevin Costner, and wow he’s a terrible actor. But the movie was good.
August 25th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
I would say any castle from any Lord of the rings movie. Probably that castle from Return of the king that seems to be crashed by those orcs……
August 25th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
My favorite movie with a castle is none other than Beauty and the Beast. It is absolutely my favorite Disney movie, and even besides that it’s a great one! And the castle is amazing! It has talking cookware!

August 25th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
My favorite movie with a castle in it would be van helsing because it has multiple castles and the action scene in the last one rocked! And also just the overall scenes and plot that also took part in the castles were awesome!(i wonder if the plot for CC will be just as great?)

Hah! This is an easy question.
I’ll obviously say the castle of the great Count Cagliostro in “Lupin the Third: Castle of Cagliostro” directed by Hayao Miyazaki.
What’s so great about it?
It was a freakin’ 1979 movie! and the drawings are still breathtaking today.
The whole castle is awesome, from the bowels to the great clock-tower at the very top.
August 25th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
My favorite movie with a castle is “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”, hands down. With lines like “Are you suggesting that coconuts migrate?” and “I fart in your general direction!”, how is this movie not worshiped? Plus, this movie and castle crashers have two things in common: Their both crazy and cooky, and their both fun!
August 25th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Lots of Harrison Ford and Sean Connery shenanigans occurred in that castle making it the castle with the best history so far.

My favorite movie that features a castle is “Monty Python & The Holy Grail”. Where have we seen a castle built on top of other previously-attempted-but-failed castles on a swamp? With a wedding gone horribly wrong- it makes it twice as awesome.
August 25th, 2008 at 10:47 pm
I’m going to have to with James Bond flick “The World is Not Enough”
There in lied a castle that was home to the northern base of the British Secret Service.
Just like Castle Crashers, James Bond features many weapons, manly explosions, and a four way of nonstop action.

my favorite movie with a castle would have to be LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS!!!
not 4 the castle but for the insane battles, deaths of millions of orcs, that one hot chick, and finally the part where the elf throws the midget (dwarf) with an axe into a pile of orcs (^_^)
August 25th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
The Princess Bride, because of the way Wesley, Fezzik and Inigo are able to trick the guards into fleeing from the castle entrance.
August 25th, 2008 at 11:07 pm
Willow – Cos its got trolls, catapults, an awesome weapons room and a 2 headed dragon monster in its lake
August 25th, 2008 at 11:16 pm
I’m going to have to go with Army of Darkness, not for the reason as the others, though. I love it because, though the castle was real, it seemed SOOOO low budget! It had like, two rooms and four stone walls. THAT’S IT! WHERE DID ALL THOSE FREAKIN’ PEOPLE LIVE?
August 25th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
Obviously my favorite castle in a movie is the Last Castle’s castle with Robert Redford. I mean, it’s less of a castle and more of a prison. But aren’t we all in our own prisons (castles)? And hey, who can resist a little Robert Redford action.

Mine would have to be Howl’s Moving Castle. Talk about an visually amazing movie! The reason I pick this castle is that….well, it’s magic….and has legs, wings, and a gigantic chimney coming from the top. As if that weren’t enough, it shape shifts it self from the inside out, and can phase through dimensions. Not to mention that the movie was beautifully animated, and I’m not really what you would call an anime guy. Let’s not forget, that by the end of the movie, it’s Demon Engine Calcifur, is taken out of it. As a result, the last 15 minutes of the movie is the castle falling apart until it is a rectangle of wood with legs, then just a singular plank. Most impressive castle I’ve yet to come across.
August 25th, 2008 at 11:28 pm
Robin hood: Men in Tights is my favorite movie with a castle…while there are many movies with castles that are quite awesome, this movie always makes me laugh until this day even though I have seen it so many times. The castle itself plays a central roll in the plot, the scene in which Robin hood battles threw the castle at the end is particularly amazing!

The best castle is Queen Bavmorda’s castle in Willow. Full of traps and she had the ability to turn an entire army into pigs.
August 25th, 2008 at 11:39 pm
It would be the movie King Arthur. The way those knights decide to stay to defend their country is inspirational. They were just given their freedom and they decide to sacrifice it in order to defend their homeland and their heritage.
August 25th, 2008 at 11:41 pm
I would have to say my favorite castle is from the 1986 movie Labyrinth. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s king is David Bowie, it’s infiltrated by Jennifer Connelly, it’s run by puppets, it has a room that screams Escher, or if it’s the fact that you are pretty much on acid the entire time you are inside or around it, ESPECIALLY when David Bowie gives you a peach or apricot or whatever that fruit was. I don’t like the Bog of Eternal Stench, cuz that place “stinks” (I hope you liked my pun…)

Alright, check it, although I’m already defending my manhood on a daily basis, I’m going to have to go with Princess Fiona’s castle from Shrek. I was going to go with something obscure like the Norinaga Castle from TMNT 3, but then I got to thinking just how epic the scene in Shrek really was. It’s a scene that features a dragon with spacial issues, scoffing at the skeletons of previous rescuers, a complete disregard for knightly formality, and all of this adds up to be the most unheroic rescuing of a princess ever. Now let’s crash some castles, and rescue some princesses and get some cake.
August 25th, 2008 at 11:49 pm
Blank Check (1994). This is the first movie that with a castle in it that came to mind when I read about this contest. I think this is a good fit because this kid end up with tons of money that he uses to buy his very own “castle”. It’s basically becomes his playground and home away from all his troubles. We all dreamed of being this kid with his own state of the art castle with giant entertainment system and a slide that goes from your bedroom to your giant swimming pool. The kid may of had to give up his dream palace in the end of the movie, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t still his castle in his heart. Even today that castle is a symbol of freedom, great times, and growing up. And that, I think, anyone can appreciate.
Besides I think that movie also had John Candy in it and he’s a “castle” in his own right.
(not in the heavy sense but the awesome and full of heart sense)

I’m going to have to say Highlander, with its vast array of castles. When it comes to medieval architecture, you just can’t go wrong with Scottish castles filled to the brim with immortals locked in an eternal struggle. There can only be one, and it’s Highlander. No other castle movies can compete, to be quite honest.

he-man castle yes

I’m going to have to go against my manhood and say Shrek.
It features the most unheroic rescuing of a princess ever, complete with utter disregard for knightly honor, the scoffing at the skeletons of previous rescuers, a dragon with spacial issues, what more could you want? I’m ready to crash some castles, rescue some princesses, and get some damn cake!

My favorite castle scene would have to be the castle from Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. Where the huge battle took place with the little bad guys destroying the people that live in the city and not to mention that this was one if not the best trilogy of all time. When they crashed his castle the king got “hot headed” lol.
August 26th, 2008 at 12:04 am
I’d have to say Minas Tirith. from “Lord of the Rings”. Mostly because its more of a layered fortress city then an actual castle, and that thing is damn near un-crashable.
August 26th, 2008 at 12:18 am
I’d have to say my favorite movie with a castle has to be “Dragonheart” the castle Spis Castle in Slovakia was a great feature used within the movie I was stunned. “Live on!”
August 26th, 2008 at 12:24 am
Lord of the rings, because it has castles, lords and rings!
August 26th, 2008 at 12:50 am
The castle on South Park: Imaginationland. It really resembles Rivendell from The Lord of The Rings movies. You know it was an epic battle with tons of good fictional characters fight evil characters to the death and Butters got to imagine anything. The creators of South Park cut Imaginationland into an official movie instead of 3 seperate episodes so this is a good reason.
August 26th, 2008 at 12:50 am
Im going to go with the Johnny English castle.
I mean, srsly, thats gotta be one of the most peculiar break ins I have ever seen, taking in account, that, you know, he could have used the ladder, if he had bothered looking for another entrance. And not only that, he also has enough time to take a bath, discover one of the most weird/complicated plots ever, and screw it up (past mistakes always haunts us). Yet again.
That whole part and the dancing video were my favorites.

Princess Bride castle is definitely the best movie with a castle! What other castle do you get to hear “mawwiage” and “hello, my name is inigo montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!” all in the same movie? Not to mention “Have fun storming the castle!”
August 26th, 2008 at 1:21 am
Army of Darkness, but perhaps solely for the fact that the castle, though real, was low budget as sin. Four walls, two rooms, and PACKED with villagers! WHERE DID THEY ALL LIVE?
August 26th, 2008 at 1:24 am
I love Robin Hood (the Disney animated classic, of course). The animation, the characters, the MUSIC…That movie just has a special place in my memories, and the castle(s) therein were definitely crashed.
August 26th, 2008 at 1:35 am
My favorite castle is the one from the movie Young Frankenstein. I like how the castle is so dark in a comedic film. Also any castle with secret rooms is awesome.
August 26th, 2008 at 1:43 am
My favourite by far was Frankenstein
I liked the olden time feel and textures, also i enjoyed the dark storyline of the movie. (How the villagers came to kill frankenstein, and how the setting was dark and stormy). It was so awesome and exciting I hope they make a sequal. I love castles because they resemble strength and can last through anything. Castle crashers will be an amazing game because it will teach everyone how strong and amazingly skilled you have to be to crash a castle!
August 26th, 2008 at 1:56 am
I loved Frankenstein’s castle, and how it was tall and made of bricks. I also enjoyed the dark storyline and creepy parts of the movie. I enjoyed this movie sooo much that i hope they make a sequal with better graphics and an even cooler castle! I love castles because they symbolize strength and they need very strong forces to take them down. Castle Crashers will be an excellent game because it will show everyone how strong and awesomely skilled you need to be to crash a castle!
August 26th, 2008 at 1:57 am
Well if it were a movie I would have to go with the dark tower from the dark tower series by Steven King, but since it is not… Hands down the best movie with a castle in it has to be “Time Bandits.” and if you disagree with me I will stab you in the throat, meet me in the lobby I’m the guy stabbing throats…. Come on, filled with midgets or dwarves, i don’t know the correct term. Magic mystery time travel an ever changing castle filled with danger damsels and… freakin kick a#$ midgets. I’m not disagreeing with the posts above me, many of these movies are better movies as a whole but none compares to Time Bandits on the merits as I read them. Take care guys good hunting

Ok, this is nerdy (and I will probably lie and say that I didn’t write this comment if I don’t win; if I do win, I’ll tell everyone. Who cares when you win a copy of Castle Crashers?), but I’m going to go with any of the Harry Potter movies. Yes, a 24-year old guy is not supposed to enjoy Harry Potter, but let me tell you, I’ve had dreams about living in the Hogwarts castle. There’s just something about a dungeon-like castle that gets the imagination going. Hogwarts just felt like it had a life of its own. I’m sure some people would argue that Hogwarts is not actually a castle, but if you watch the movies (or even just read the book), you definitely get a castle feel. I’d take Harry Potter over LOTR any day. Sure, you may have hobbits and trolls, but I’d have wands and Avada Kedavra any LOTR fan’s FACE. PWND.

Harold and Kumar go to White Castle is my favorite movie about castles. A.) it has Neil Patrick Harris in it 2.) Have you ever tried their burgers clam strips… last one.) they ride a freaking cheetah… that is enough to make any woman want them they don’t have to save a princess instead they eat burgers…
I know this is late, but I just found out about it…have mercy on me.
August 26th, 2008 at 2:34 am
Hands down without a single doubt it is “Krull”. Classic heroic fantasy where the princess is kidnapped by an evil demon named “The Beast” and his minions who (of course) hide her away in his castle and force her to be his slave. The Hero then rounds up a group of adventurers and sets off to find the Black Fortress and rescue his bride.
This is no ordinary castle though. It teleports on a daily basis to a new location each day and is complete with spiked outer walls, boobie traps, and hidden passages thus making it the coolest castle ever. You will have to follow in the heroe’s footsteps and capture a fire mare in order to reach it’s true location.
In all seriousness the movie is absolutely hysterical to watch. The hero leaves many of his adventurers to die in order to save himself first. The acting is terrible and the Cyclops riding his horse will have you rolling with laughter. Liam Neeson has a significant role in this 1983 cult classic and I would say this is a must see if you have never experienced it before.
August 26th, 2008 at 2:38 am
My favorite with in it will have to be The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. The movies had a great cast and the storyline was one of the greatest ever thats why it won 11 Oscars…. “MY PRECIOUS!!!!”
August 26th, 2008 at 2:46 am
My favorite movie with a Castle in it is The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian where the good guys storm the bad guy Castle to kill the bad guy king .
August 26th, 2008 at 2:47 am
The Castle.
This movie is about a man who tries to save his family home from the government. Every man should have his castle.
August 26th, 2008 at 3:00 am
Bram Stoker’s Dracula has to be my all time favorite movie with a castle in it. The castle was crazy and rockin’ many hot vampire babes but also the oldest and creepiest dude on the planet. Oh crap and Keanu Reeves is half awesome in the movie too. But the thumbs up go the the castle.
August 26th, 2008 at 3:14 am
Indiana Jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull (dont judge me!)
I just love they way the mayan “castle” is a puzzle in and of itself. I mean it was just so damn clever. With the sand and the stone statues being puzzle pieces. Just brilliant.
August 26th, 2008 at 4:00 am
My favorite castle is in the movie Young Frankenstein. The fact that the castle is so dark and decieving in such a comedic movie is great. Plus having secret rooms in any castle is always a plus.
August 26th, 2008 at 4:28 am
My favourite castle in a movie is castle “Camelot”.
Why you ask me? It features one of the greatest legends of all time:”King Arthur”. Even though we think we know it all, there are still some mysteries about it.
I remember, as a kid, I always wanted to play “knights of the round table”. It sounded noble, but in the end we were all bashing into eachother with wooden sticks as swords, and my moms pan lids as shields. Oh yes I remember.
What I love most about Camelot is its greatness and that there isn’t anyone in the world that hasn’t heard about the castle and the legend that resides there.
August 26th, 2008 at 4:49 am
I have to go with the Super Mario Brothers movie castle. I mean heck, it’s the freakin’ Super Mario Brothers castle! With Koopa! There’s nothing to dislike.
…well, ‘cept for the horrible special effects, design, overall movie pacing, characters, plot (Koopa! Dinosaurs! EVOLUTION!) and the Goombas.
Yep! By far my favorite castle. The best part is the ending, where Mario and Luigi totally crashed Koopa’s castle and then the movie ended.
Sadly for me, the movie was not, in fact, in another castle.
GT is FZeroRacer.
August 26th, 2008 at 5:37 am
the best move with a castle in it is monty python and the holy grail!it has to be they made model castle’s because they had no cgi.
August 26th, 2008 at 5:54 am
My favourite movie containing a castle is definately South Park: Imaginationland. What makes the castle so great is that the Council of Nine dwell within it. The Council of Nine being Gandalf, Aslan, Luke Skywalker, Jesus, Popeye, Glinda from the Wizard of Oz, Zeus, Morpheus from the Matrix and Wonder Woman. That was got to make it the most awesome castle ever. What makes this original? Imagination land is probably the only movie posted so far that started out as just 3 episodes for a cartoon series and was later re-released as a movie.
August 26th, 2008 at 5:55 am
I would have to go with Howl’s Moving Castle. It’s a good movie, and the castle is quite unusual, I mean, It’s moving! Although I don’t know if you really could call it a castle, because it’s more like a mechanic thing.
August 26th, 2008 at 6:01 am
I’m loving Harold and Kumar go to white Castle. Allthough White Castle isn’t a real Castle, i think it fits. Hamburgers from White Castle own, and just because of some stupid TV-Spot Harold and Kumar are taking a freakin’ damn hard ride to that burger-store. If you can’t laugh at this movie, i don’t know what’s up with you.
PLUS: The Movie got’s Neil Patrick Harris bonus. Best Actor EVER!
August 26th, 2008 at 6:06 am
Allthough it’s not a movie, i’m allways having a good time with Takeshi’s Castle. Oh my god, what stupid Japanese People. Every time they’re trying everything to reach Takeshi’s castle, failing as bad as anyone can
Great.
August 26th, 2008 at 6:09 am
My favorite movie was Harry Potter the whole series of movies were great but my favorite one has to be the Goblet of Fire hands down it just had so much action and it was epic, but to me it was always missing summthing it was missing the the gods of gaming and that isTom Fulp and Dan Paladin just imagine what kind of creativity they could of gave the movie, maybe more people would of watch that movie and gave it a 10 because have you seen there artwork can anyone say amazing cause i can.
August 26th, 2008 at 7:11 am
My favorite movie? I couldn’t name just one… most memorable? Beowulf… and not because it was great… but because the movie was so horrible that I’ll never be able to forget it… Hopefully a certain game can help rid me of these awful awful memories.

The castles of Conan, naked women, alcohol and one or two monsters to fight before lunch.
If I would have to pick one, it would have to be the castle of Shadizar, where in addition to all of the above, Conan gets to kick Wilt Chamberlain’s butt
How great is that!

Easily the Princess Bride, fantastic movie.

Greatest castle evar? Try the colossal Minas Tirith from Lord of the Rings, Return of the King.
It’s built into the side of a mountain where a cliff serves as a courtyard, has several levels that serve as residential districts (what fun it’d be to drift on a skateboard from the very top, hunh?) and serves as the shield for all of Middle Earth against the unholy forces of Mordor.
Sure, the citadel’s garrison may be slightly stupid since they’ll more instinctively shoot the armored part of a siege tower, rather than the trolls that push them. And they need an old man with a stick to tell them what to do. And have to hold their ears over some ghost’s screams. Well, at least they’re loyal and expendable.
I was also considering Helm’s Deep, but when you have a design flaw that allows a few bombs to blow up the primary defensive wall and allow the enemy to strut right in, it immediately forfeits any right to call itself a castle.
August 26th, 2008 at 7:39 am
Where Eagles Dare – I’m glad nobody has mentioned it yet because it was the first film that came to mind.
While not the most obvious of choice, it’s certainly the most kick arse of them. The castle is also a pretty prominent feature, being ‘The Castle of the Eagles’ and getting thoroughly blown up.
It has Clint Eastwood, spies, Nazis, and a climactic fight atop a moving cable car thousands of feet above the Alps, and the double bluff played out in the castle dinning room is a brilliantly suspenseful scene, right up there with the blood test scene from The Thing.
An all round fun and thrilling classic, with a castle! What more could you ask for.
August 26th, 2008 at 7:49 am
My favorite movie with a castle is King Arthur. The way the knights decided to risk everithing to defend their homeland was inspirational, to say the least.

‘Reign of Fire.’ Why? Well really it was the first movie I thought about and its one badass movie. You got dragons, a hot chick, and Batman-aka-Christian Bale!!

my favorite castle would be from the monty python it was such a kick ass film and i loved the castle fight.
August 26th, 2008 at 8:20 am
Movie- Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Like Castle Crashers they share the same theme in one part of the movie where Sir Lancelot tries to save a princess through the slaughtering of many people.
Unlike Castle Crashers though it was actually innocent people he was slaughtering in a wedding to save a dude but you know its still funny.
August 26th, 2008 at 8:25 am
The best castle movie ever is “Castle in the sky”, whats better then a astle that floats in the air. And it had a bunch of cool designed flying vehicles but yah awesome castle and an awesome movie.

Ill have to go with Johnny English.
In one part of the movie, he and the chick have to break into a castle. And what a break in it is! Must be one of the most peculiar ones I ever saw. Especially because, you know, he could have used the ladder, if he had bothered looking for it.
And not only that, he also manages to take a bath, discover a truly weird/complicated plot, and screw it up. Yet again.
That whole part and the dancing video were my favorites.
mmmmm, why doesn’t my post appear?
August 26th, 2008 at 9:17 am
Well its has to be ‘Krull’…
Let me elaborate, although it is not simply a castle, (but also a freakin’ sweet teleporting black fortress of doom!) the evil ‘Beast’ lives inside a behemoth of a black spaceship/castle/thing that kills people with spiky rooms and generally fatal deathness.
Yeh the film was a little batty, and plot/acting/point was thin on the ground…. But a huge a$$ Black Doom Fortress-Castle that kills people… Well thats a winner!

Thes last castle movie has the greatest castle.
This castle is made to keep people in, so that in fact a castle is made to keep people out.
Its the pledge to freedom that is made in this movie, that makes this castle the greatest.
You see each and every castle that has been conquered they feasted and rejoyed inside.

It is my firm belief that Castle Grayskull is the greatest castle in cinematic history, cartoon or not, because there are totally some forgotten live action He-Man flicks. It had all the things that make up a great castle, I mean think about it.
1. Moat and drawbridge, two quintessential factors in all great castles. Where else would you put all those spare crocodiles you’ve got lying around?
2. It actually has a giant gray skull on it, to avoid confusion.
3. It always held out Skeletor, Hordak, AND The Snake Man, which is pretty impressive, especially when they teamed up that one time.
4.In the 2002 remake of He-Man, it is revealed that Castle Grayskull was once home to King Grayskull, an ancestor of Prince Adam, who died defending his kingdom and Eternia as a whole from Hordak. So, think about that.
5. It would be a cool place just to hang out and stuff.
So there you have it. “By the power of Grayskull-”

I would say my favorite movie with a castle in it is: “The Princess Bride” I love the quote from Miracle Max and his wife in it.
Miracle Max and his wife: “Have fun storming the castle!”
Miracle Max’s wife: “You think they will make it?”
Miracle Max: “It would take a miracle!”
Both: “Bye bye!”

Castle Anthrax, from the movie “Monty Python and the holy Grail” of course. Its one of the funnier scenes in one of the funniest movies of all time. Sir Galahad when he realizes that all those ladies are virgins and they want sex is priceless! Then Lancelot comes to save the day calling them vile beasts. And Galahad keeps saying how bad he can defeat them by himself and that there is only 150 of them, and at the end of the scene he sais to lancelot “I bet your gay” hahaha and even this line “Let me have just a little bit of peril…” . Best movie ever.

It might not be my favorite movie of all time but I definitely remember it good. Anyone else remember The Haunting? I know I can’t forget it because I was just a little kid when I saw it.
Basically a bunch of insomniacs think they are going to this castle to do studies on their sleep and they find out the castle is haunted. Hmm…I think I’m sweating now. Don’t forget I was 8 when I saw this movie!

I don’t know if this really applies, but I enjoy seeing the castle in the anime Soul Eater. The way they render it for a cell shaded anime is amazing and very fantastical. It also doubles as an academy in the show and has alot of hidden/secrets that haven’t been revealed yet.

Red Soyna.
It had a castle destination as the setting for the movie’s climax. A classic castle escape was featured as well. The walls crumble around the poorly acted, heavily-accented heroine. Also it had Arnold in a surrogate role… only flexing and rarely talking.
The movie would of been better if the bratty kid was crushed by a falling boulder.
Actually, there are a ton of things that could of made this movie better.
In fact, I only mention this terrible castle movie because I fully expect NOT to win this contest. I will gladly give TheBehemoth my money. I just wanted to torture you all with the memory of Red Soyna.

My favorite castle would have to be from a home movie shot an made by me in which my most amazing cardboard caste is rampaged through by my little brother back when we were little. Me and my castle took great damage from that damned plastic motorized truck as he drove over and over into us but with great courage and fists of fury we had finally one.
August 26th, 2008 at 12:26 pm
By far my favorite movie with a castle in it would be.
Army of Darkness.
Comic genius for its time.
My step-brother used to watch this all the time with his friends, so I was probably about 6 when I watched it the first time. I’ve seen it countless times since then. I Really didn’t understand all the humor when I was a kid…
Hey can you blame me? I just liked the skeletons. How was I supposed to know what “I’ll cut off your gizzard,” meant.
(Then again, it was pretty straight foward.)
Plus who could forget…
“Give me some sugar baby.”

Not quite your usual castle:
Film:
Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle
Why:
This castle isn’t your standard castle, It’s a restaurant. This entire film all started because these two guys have the Munchies.
I think all greatest plots in history start like this.

Lilo and Stitch is one of my favorite movies with a castle in it. “But Geracht, you snivelling putz!” you might say, “There were no castles!” Ahhh, but this is the clever part. There was! A SANDcastle! While they’re on the beach, Lilo /and/ Stitch make a sand castle each, making it DOUBLY castletastic! Lilo’s is awesome because of its cuteness; bare-bones, but simplistic enough to be truly likeable. Stitch’s, however, is a masterpiece; genius aliens have a tendency to one-up us in everything we do, after all. The best part is, they were both sized perfectly for taking a Castle Crashers figure–y’know, those little vinyl ones–and having it stomp around like a GI Joe battle playset!
August 26th, 2008 at 1:38 pm
Since you bring up Monty Python and the Holy Grail I will have to choose Young Frankenstein as my favorite movie with a castle in it.
Who wouldn’t want a castle with a mad scientist’s lab underneath.
August 26th, 2008 at 2:05 pm
My favorite castle would be the one in Beauty and the Beast, even though it is enchanted. How can you not love a castle with such polite and helpful inventory? I say kick the Beast out and live happily forever after.
August 26th, 2008 at 2:20 pm
My fav movie with castle’s would be Lord of the rings, ofcourse. In lord of the rings all most every castles are important like Minas Tirith, But my fav castle on this movie would be Minas Morgul.

Cawdor Castle from Macbeth. It sits beautifully on top of a hill surrounded by the immense Birnham wood. Although Macbeths head was paraded around the castle on a pike, it still holds the title as the greatest castle that ever stood. If anything that makes it 1000 time more badass.

My favorite castle is Iggy’s in Super Mario World for SNES! One of the first of many rewarding encounters in the game, leading up to a final battle in Bowser’s realm.
August 26th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
My favorite is the castle in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Even though it’s enchanted… How can you not love a castle with such polite and helpful inventory? I say kick the Beast out and live happily forever after.
August 26th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
Without a doubt, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, because just like our little (yet brave!) knights, on the movie there’s a knight that will just keep on fighting, even if missing most or all of his limbs!
August 26th, 2008 at 4:51 pm
Well i would have to say my favorite castle is the one form Van Helsing. Full of mysterious passages and it truly had all the great castle stuff. Plus it had dracula, a werewolf, and farnkenstein in it. That is what i call bang for your buck.

The best movie with a castle has to be the batman movies. His batcave is his fortress of solitude. It was an impenatrable castle with the exception of Batman forever
August 26th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
Flash Gordon…Why???It was ran by Ming the Merciless..You heard the laughter at the end..He will be back…..
August 26th, 2008 at 5:22 pm
I”m going to go a little more obscure and say the castle where Edward Scissorhands lives is the best castle. The castle itself is a little delapidated but it has some zany gadgets from the inventor and some amazing gardening by Eddie. Plus the movie is really good.
August 26th, 2008 at 5:23 pm
I know it isn’t “exactly” a castle, but trust me this is original.
The movie “The Last Castle” has the setting of a maximum secruity military prison. General Irwin is sent to the prison because he disobeyed a direct presidential order and it led to deaths.
Irwin senses that the warden is not treating the inmates correctly so he attempts to unify the inmates as he still holds fame among the prisoners. They build a “castle wall” as the prison is designed after a medieval castle. The warden does not like the unity and destroys the “castle wall”.
Irwin leads the troops to bring the the prison into chaos and they succeed. Irwin goes towards the flag post to raise the warden’s flag upside down but as he does this the warden fires lives bullets (an upside down flag means distress). When they look up they see that the flag is right side up.
What is a castle without a flag? And so, here was “the last castle”

Howl’s Moving Castle from the movie of the same name.
I ask you, how many castles can claim to be capable of:
1: Walking
2: Warping space (the thing that made the internal doors open to different places around the world)
3: Changing shape (both internally and externally)
4: Looking both cool and as if it was about to fall apart at any moment
… Okay, fair enough, the wizard who owned the place was partially responsible for all that… but it was still a great castle.

I think the movie Ella Enchanted. The castle was awesome. It was huge and the best castle ever. (:
August 26th, 2008 at 5:58 pm
My favorite movie with a castle is the Lord of the Rings trilogy for it has numorous castles including Helms Deep,Minas Tirith, and Minas Morgul. Although Minas Morgul isn’t very important, the others are where the good races made there last ditch effort to survive against impossible odds.

I have to say my favorite movie with a castle in it is the origional Star Wars trilogy, I always considered the Death Star a castle, and the castle is important because it was basically the empire’s greatest weapon, and was the main target of the rebels in two movies.
August 26th, 2008 at 6:35 pm
I like Monty Python, who could forget the guy spewing insults and throwing cows from the top of the castle? Plus, you gotta love the black knight who couldn’t admit defeat.

The 1971 Macbeth film because the title character resides within his castle recalling his corrupt decisions.Eventually his enemies inflitrate the castle and mark his downfall.
August 26th, 2008 at 6:56 pm
Caste Dracula in the old 1931 Dracula film because it had the mysticism of true horror for the time and it brought out a shocking presence for Count dracula. The Castle sits on top of a Barren hill where the moon strikes it with sheer beauty. The castle suceeds over many due to its mysticism and its grand scale

I knew the answer before I’d even finished the question. The castle from Time Bandits, obviously. For a start it’s hidden behind an invisible wall.. how awesome can you get? Secondly it’s massive, dark, evil and everything you can expect from a castle, and finally.. it features the great David Warner playing the Evil Genius. Stands to reason!
August 26th, 2008 at 6:59 pm
I would say the castles from the movie, “The Last Legion” was the best! It featured a castle from Italy on an island, and a castle that used to be owned by the Ninth Legion or Dragon Legion. This timeline of the movie took place during the Roman Empire timeline, when Roman empire was split into two. It shows that the Goths were the ones that destroyed Rome but a lone last king of Rome was still alive. There are many twists in this movie that would blow your mind!

Easy: Holy Grail.
They say at danger: “Run Away!”, what might enemys in castle crashers would say when they fight with the characters, they try to find the castle all the movie, but actually, we dont even care at all, we love the meanwhile, i imagine that’s what castle crashers is gonna be.
August 26th, 2008 at 7:14 pm
Ridley Scott’s film “Kingdom of Heaven” hands down! Who doesn’t love epic battles and castle sieges! The great Wall that surrounded Jerusalem wasn’t just massive and well designed, it also served for a nice last stand battle in the movie. So I guess thats why I liked it.
August 26th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
Howl’s Moving Castle. Wonderful animation, great story…completely original. Who wouldn’t love to have a walking castle, with a portal door that opens to different towns with a turn of a knob?
August 26th, 2008 at 7:39 pm
Ah damn it seems I’ve gone and missed the noon deadline.
Oh well I think I’ll have a go at it anyway:
The Castle in The Army of Darkness aka Evil Dead 3 for sure. The castle itself was home to a bunch of overly religious crazys that were forced to fight the undead on a regular basis and even had a pit with deadites in it for dumping people in to! How can that not be regarded as great?
It even hosted a large battle between the forces of the living and the undead both sides lead by a version of the main hero Ashley “Ash” Williams.

The castle in “Unico in the Island of Magic” is super creepy, because the villian of the film turns villagers into living wooden puppets, and builds his castle out of them. Kinda like soylent green, only they don’t get eaten.

Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle is the best one I can think of it’s funny and just perfect for any castle ever possibly created and it’s white too! lol

I would have to say Harold and Kumar go to White Castle
well it may not be a traditional castle but the two main characters go through as much of a quest as any hero such as riding a cheetah
plus their actual food is really good if you have a local white castle …which i doubt but you can buy their food at some supermarkets its amazing

Black Knight with Martin Lawrence was a funny movie. The Castle was very detailed and there was a pretty cool battle scene on one of the castle walls. The movie was quite enjoyable.

The best castle ever to appear in a movie ever is the castle in the Emerald City from The Wizard of Oz. Not only is it incredibly durable, shiney beyond compare and the best color ever (green, if you’re wondering :3), but the property value is so high, you could retire within 30 minutes of crashing it (and end up filthy rich, too
).

My favorite castle-featuring movie would have to be Lilo & Stitch because there is uber FAIL when Stitch tries to build his castle to imitate Lilo’s, which in reality represents the tyranny and oppression of outsourcing products and services to other countries. A fine product or service will always crumble if exposed to framework of cheap labor, which is the main reason why Stitch’s sand castle crumbled. Thank you, and have a pleasant tomorrow.

so the best movie with a castle in it is Robin hood men in tights. there were 2 actually, the one that was being towed away which was so funny and prince john’s. This movie was down right funny and these castles should be winners!!

The castle from the ringer, the little, scared midgets castle. the magnificent cardboard one. This castle was the best od them all!

i would say the castle from “the lord of the rings” (thw white city) that castle is huge and is always under attack, so in that way it reminds me of the game, fighting to defend something.
September 2nd, 2008 at 1:53 pm
it’s obvious, the castle in Harold and kumar go to White Castle. It’s not only hard to get inside, it’s got delicious food by the boat loads.
September 2nd, 2008 at 2:24 pm
“Delicious” is sooooooooo subjective. :p
September 4th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
Obviously, the castle containing Zoot, Piglet, Winston, Dingo, and all of the other lovelies from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Not for the castle itself (which is nicely decorated with linens and candles), but for the fact that it is the home to such fetching and… rambunctious ladies.

Without a doubt it would be Lord of the Rings. It has several castles in it so you can pick and choose which is your favorite! Minas Tirith, the one in Gondor, Sauron’s, etc. This is a veritble castle smorgasbord!
