Fall 2008: The Season the Wallets Cried

This could be the most wallet busting video game season ever, as Fall 2008 threatens to suck money out of the consumers wallet faster than a Hoover Deluxe.

There are the AAA titles such as Spore, Fallout 3, Gears of War 2, Resistance 2, Call of Duty: World War, Fable 2, World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, Left 4 Dead, Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 and Starcraft II. There are blockbusters coming to new systems, like Grand Theft Auto IV landing on the PC and Bioshock arriving on the PlayStation 3, not to mention NBA 2K9 finally being released on the PC.

There’s some first party games that companies are hoping become killer IPs, such as LittleBigPlanet, Viva Pinata: Lost in Paradise and LIPS. There’s some hot looking original IPs, such as the aforementioned Left 4 Dead and Mirror’s Edge. There’s some attempts to revive sagging franchises, like Tomb Raider Underworld and Sonic Unleashed, and new editions of cult offerings, like Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts and Persona 4.

Then you have that three way duel between Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero World Tour and Rock Revolution.
