Here’s the latest news concerning the litigation-ridden company:
Remember the lawsuit back in July, the one with workers from Team Ninja suing for overtime pay? It’s being reported today that Tecmo has settled with the plaintiffs in the case of which there is only two, not the “dozens” which were originally reported. Tecmo and the two former (?) members of Team Ninja have brought the suit to an end, but neither side is spilling the beans on what kind of money exchanged hands. The plaintiffs originally filed their lawsuit in order to claim 100’s of hours of overtime pay, which they say had been denied them. The statement from Tecmo read in part “On July 16th, two of our employees brought suit against our company regarding unpaid overtime in the Tokyo District Court and presented a proposed settlement. On September 1, 2008, a judicial settlement was reached,” which isn’t helpful or revealing at all. The full statement was translated and made available over at Kotaku.
Itagaki’s lawsuit against the company and its prior president are still making their way through the Japanese judicial system. When you stop to consider that man’s personality I don’t think any settlement will be coming soon, much more his style to have a fiery day in court.
