Gamasutra is reporting that a staggering 1.5M copies of Warhammer Online have been shipped to retailers in an unprecedented distribution and launch in all three major regions.
Shipping to stores in North America, Europe, and Oceania on September 17th, the game set a company record for the most retail pre-orders placed by consumers for a PC title in EA’s 26-year history.
Mythic claims that WAR will be the first MMORPG to open its servers simultaneously in all three regions.
Having played in the Warhammer Online beta, I can say it’s thrilling in that it’s one of the most kinetic MMORPGs I’ve ever played. War is raging all around you, there’s no shortage of quests - and the game features a built-in guide to show you what area to go for each mission - the seamlessly integrated PvP regions, and most of all, the public quests - the game is a real winner. The only obstacle is maintaining a user base over a long period of time, especially since it’s a direct competitor with World of Warcraft. If you like your WoW with a little more spice and action, give Warhammer Online online a shot.
