DIGITAL LIFE: Peak Products Guitars

Peak Products showed off their guitar controllers at Digital Life yesterday, and they were sights to behold. If you are tired of the light, plastic toys that come with Guitar Hero III and Rock Band, and want something that has the look and feel of a real guitar, check out their website.
For starters, they’re real wood finish, and are fairly weighty. While the Peak reps stated that they’re lighter than a real electric guitar, these babies are far heavier than the plastic controllers. They’re also life-sized, so you don’t have the strain of being an adult contorting to play a small controller, even if the Rock Band controlleris fairly large. There are two sets of frets one low and the other high, and a nice fluid-but-stiff strummer. Oh, and did I mention they’re wireless? They come in a varieties of colors as well.
The downside is the MSRP is $179.99, though if you handle one, you’ll see why its pricey. These are the Rolls Royces of guitar controllers.
The guitars are available from their site, and are currently hitting retail stores as well. They’re currently for the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3. The Wii controller is coming later in the year, and as for the Xbox 360 version, they’re still negotiating with Microsoft.

Lame. I can get a REAL Fender Squire for under $150 bucks, and it’s real.
Get the price down or people are going to call this a joke.

Can you use it with Rock Band or Guitar Hero? LOL

No, you can use it to build real talent and do real things that could make real money or… get chicks.

Can you play with other people online, leaderboards, etc?
People spent $100-$200 for the high-end Dance Dance Revolution pads, too – it’s free to dance. lol
Dan Amrich of OXM has a huge guitar collection and plays them – he also plays Rock Band and Guitar Hero.
Besides, this will be a gateway drug to wanting to learn for real.

So, wait, you’re trying to argue that 179.99 product to own a fake guitar that has no purpose after this game is dead and gone is BETTER than learning real guitar on a produce that is $150.00 with practice amp?
If so… arguing any further is a lost cause.

I’m arguing that hardcore Guitar Hero and Rock Band players will want this controller.

LOL…I see things haven’t changed too much around here.
I’m kinda in the same boat as Derrick here, though. For a while I got into the Rock Band/Guitar Hero thing, but at this time around I couldn’t care less about Rock Band 2 or the new Guitar Hero (Which has a f’ing sweet set list this time around).
I’ve spent way more than a few hundred dollars on real guitar equipment, but taking away a skill from your time invested in an instrument is seriously one of the most rewarding feelings I’ve had — I’m sure Derrick can vouch for that.
I stood back recently and looked at a few people I know who are/were super into Guitar Hero — how they can sail through songs after (presumably) many hours of playing a video game…and it’s a little pathetic that, yeah, they’re talented in some aspect of hand-eye coordination, but what would the concentration and dexterity yield on time investment in a real instrument?
But whatever. People are going to waste their money either way…at least they’re getting somewhat connected to the music scene.

I’m not going to buy new equipment for Rock Band 2.

Is that a response to my post?
…and who said you were? I believe Derrick kinda summed things up:
“Get the price down or people are going to call this a joke.”
“or… get chicks”
