Whew. And that’s just in the last two years, when Thompson had no credibility with anyone save FOX News. There was a time when people actually cared what he had to say.
Well, I have good news, Mr. Thompson has been “permanently disbarred without leave to reapply for readmission to the Florida Bar.” I read through the entire statement from the Court Clerk and wow, it’s really good reading here. Mr. Thompson’s actions are bizarre and his disbarment seems warrented, he harassed those who didn’t agree with him terribly, he sent endless streams of vitriol to people who disagreed with him, accusing attorneys of sex crimes, extortion, racketeering, it goes on and on the man sounds insane. It might be a good idea for the courts to have him examined.
Mr. Thompson refused to follow several court orders, one of which that he seek counsel to represent him, resulted in his not appealing of the decision to disbar him, so his ability to practice law was removed with no contest. He’s also responsible for the cost of this extended hearing. In the next 30 days Mr. Thomspon will have to close his practice down completely and pay the State of Florida just under $50,000.
I’m sure this won’t be the last we hear from Mr. Thompson, I’m sure he is putting together a press release right now, accusing everyone of illegal actions and justifying all his actions as good practice. Nope, sadly Jack Thompson is the kind of problem that only time can remove.
