PS3 2.50 Firmware Update Has Issues

This isn’t going to be an issue for most PS3 owners, unless of course most of you hook sound and video systems up to your PlayStation 3s? Users who have updated their PS3s to the new 2.50 firmware and also have their systems connected to projectors and amps have found that their home theater system is incompatible with their newly updated PS3s. The folks over at IGN AU found that their console wouldn’t work with a Sony branded 7.1 amp or a separate video projector.

I consider it humorous that the 2.50 firmware update came with a new feature, called the Recovery Menu, that lets users trouble shoot and fix their consoles themselves, and then renders all their fancy home theater equipment useless. Rest assured Sony is looking in to it, hopefully you won’t have to wait long for the fix.

The PS-3 2.50 update definetly has issues. Immediately after the update all hi def games would lockup on the inintial splash screen.

I use the HDMI port to a Yamaha 6080 A/V receiver and then to a 1080 projector.

I have found that by removing the Yamaha amp from the daisy chain, I can get games to play.

I had no issues before the update.
Sony definetly blew it with this update.
