POLL RESULTS: Call of Duty Kicks Killzone’s Ass

The poll results are in for the post anticipated 2009 game poll, as the gaming on the list have come out (Killzone 2) or are about to come out (Resident Evil 5), and the winner is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (aka Call of Duty 6), which trounced Killzone 2 by a wide margin. Killzone 2 was also beaten by Diablo III and tied with Resident Evil 5, followed closely by Final Fantasy XIII, God of War III and Halo 3: ODST. Interestingly, CoD:MW 2 was a user addition as this writer forget to add the title to the initial list. Madden NFL 10 was a late add, as news about the title began to stream in this week.
Why do you prefer Modern Warfare 2? I personally voted for Diablo III – I still play Diablo II, and its gameplay still holds up.

Why not title it this way? I called it a way to grab the reader’s interest. The only way to destroy the credibility of the article is to lie about the results.
And hundreds of people voted. Not “mabyee” 100. If only 100 people voted, how could a game get 5 votes and have “0%” (under 1/2 of a percent?)

What do you expect! of course Killzone 2 isn’t going to be as popular as COD, that’s because Killzone is not on every platform and therefore does not attract the same wide range in people as an exclusive.
When you take the exclusive factor into count, the must anticipated exclusives title is.Killzone 2

Not an apples-to-apples comparison since MW2 would be looked-foward to by both PS3/360 AND PC users, while KZ2 is really anticipated by only PS3 users.
So, the more accurate analysis would be that Diablo 3 is the most-wanted system-exclusive title across all consoles, followed very closely by KZ2, then Halo:ODST.
KZ2 is the most wanted PS3 exclusive title, and Halo:ODST is the most wanted 360 title.
MW2 is the most-wanted multi-console release, and it is not clear if PS3 users look forward to it more than KZ2, although based on vague statistics it seems to be extremely close.

Jim? Diablo III also beat Killzone 2. It’s only on the PC.
Also, when the poll started, it was 80% for Killzone 2 due to N4G members. Since then, it received very little support, so one has to wonder if it would have outdone, say, God of War III (and I know more PS3 owners are excited about GoW3 than KZ2.)
You never know. But I’d rather play Diablo III on PC than console anyway.

Seriously dude, this poll wont be legit until atleast 10,000 people vote, another good idea is narrowing down the list to: COD6, Killzone2, RE5, halo 3, and Starcradt or diablo 3 whichever wants to represent the pc community. God of War 3 or FFXIII are most likley confirmed for 2010.
And no way in hell with the real community vote COD6 over Killzone 2 considering how close the release is so close. Fail of an article, very misleading indeed.

KZ2 vs GoW3… that’s a close one, but only because it’s very close to KZ2’s release so there’s more attention and news articles around it.
I think the GoW franchise is more well-known in general (GoW1 and2 were actually good, unlike KZ1, and so was the PSP version).
BTW, if you ever want to re-do the survey, perhaps you should separate the PS3/360/PC versions. In other words, if you made MW2(360), MW2(PS3) and MW2(PC) all separate items people could vote for, we’d get a very accurate picture of what’s actually going on.
Same thing would apply to FF13(360) and FF13(PS3).
Just a thought.

The diff betwenn CoD:MW2 on X360 and PS3 is simple – adding platform choosing could give more detailed info how much ppl r waiting for KZ2 and CoD6 on PS3 and this would give real answer if CoD kicks KZ2 ass. Hey Jonah, I wouldn’t bother with these kids who attack as soon as they “think” someone’s bashing a highly hyped game like Killzone 2… I personally can’t wait to play it!
People these days have nothing better to do than screen the internet and try to defend their favorite game, one that hasn’t even been released and they no nothing about yet. I don’t care how many screen shots you see or if you’ve seen a video of the game played from start to finish. If you haven’t played it, how can you love it???

The game I’m most looking forward to is God of War III. I don’t really understand why everyone is so psyched for the next CoD game. I’m not sure why, but I smell a big dissapointment coming. I love the last CoD game from IW, but I just get this bad feeling about the next installment. Hopefully I’m wrong and IW does a great job… w/ the campaign as well as the online.

Okay, after reading the poll, I thought the results were pretty interesting.
For example, I never knew that Diablo 3 would have goten more votes than Killzone 2. Then again, the Killzone 2 fanbase is a rather vocal one… Moreso than Diablo 3, at least.
Personally, I would have voted for either Diablo 3 or Street Fighter 4. Two games that are sure to be on everyone’s playlist at some point, but at the same aren’t blowing their respective horns too much.
As for the points previously put out, yes, i would have thought that putting sub-divisions into your poll would have made for more accurate results. No offence meant.
And as for the points raised previously: yes, I do think that your title was (even if unintentional) a tad too… sensationalist, to be the results of a poll. Sounds like something that you’d read on the front page of The Sun. (the same newspaper that printed “THERE’S LIFE ON MARS: SCIENTISTS HAVE PROOF!”)
Facts or not, they’re pretty irrelevant at this point. With Killzone 2 hype at levels that rival the Second Coming, I’m not surprised there’s a little argument going about.
And, just a final point: I’ve never even heard of Gamestooge before. Seriously. Meaning that it’s not a real surprise that your results are… Possibly faulty, to put it gently. But, for an indie site, with (what looks like) just one person running the show… Not bad going. Just… Don’t be one of THOSE guys, that baits the fanboys. No one likes them. And it’ll never get you anywhere in the industry, besides a one-hit-wonder on N4G for a title that’s too casual to have any real basis on hard facts.

I can only imagine how few people would have actually read your poll results had you not selected a controversial title. The selection of your title obviously was an attempt to gain viewership because anything with the words Killzone 2, was popular at the time, and still is. Stating that “COD6 trounces RE5” would not have gotten you as many hits.
Personally I could care less whether you bash Killzone 2 or not. I own all three game systems and enjoy some aspects of each. But it is writers like you that are giving the gaming sector a bad reputation, one that stinks of fanboyism. Grow up, be honest and quit succumbing to sensationalism for the sake of hits.

Yes, it adds up to 101%… because of the fact that it rounds up and rounds down figures. Madden may not be 1%. It may be .6% and rounded up, while the 0% are .1 or .3. You’d have a point if the poll added up to 95% or 106%.

You don’t honestly believe that, do you? Anticipation GROWS as a game gets closer. People might be hot for Diablo III, but when it’s only a month away, only a week away, only a day away, anticipation will grow and Grow and GROW.
Look at Halo 3. By the time it was finally released, there were 10,000 launch parties, coverage in the New York Times, CNN, Mother Jones, TIME magazine, etc.
