COMIC CON 09: Get Ready to Rock

Tomorrow begins Comic Con NY weekend, and this year features even more gaming booths than last year. Southpeak wowed us with Roogoo last year – they return again this year. Civilization Revolution was there and Sid Meier was there, too. What’s up for this year?

  • Activision: Prototype is the big feature game, as the massive banner showed. Also showing will be X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2.
  • Atari: Champions Online, Ghostbusters: The Video Game, The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, and Ready 2 Rumble Revolution will be shown off. It won’t be known if Atari will be giving away free proton packs.
  • Codemasters: The Xbox 360 gets some love as Fuel, Damnation, and Overlord 2 are given airtime. Personally, I can’t wait to send imps to their giggling death again.
  • Electronic Arts: We’re get to see Bioware’s Dragon Age and Maxis’ Spore: Galactic Adventures in action. Also there will be Godfather II, Burnout Paradise and its Party Pack expansion, Battle Forge and Battlefield games.
  • Namco Bandai: Afro Samurai, Dynasty Warriors: GUNDAM 2, Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 4, Splatterhouse, We Ski, and Snowboard will be shown off.
  • Rockstar: Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and the Damned. ‘Nuff said.
  • Southpeak Games: They scored with Roogoo last year, so how ’bout some more? Roogoo: Attack on Nintendo DS and Roogoo: Twisted Towers on Wii will get their time to shine. Velvet Assassin and X-Blades will also be displayed.

There may be other stuff that are unexpected – for example, Wizards of the Coast may show off the upcoming Magic the Gathering downloadable title for Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and PC. We’ll be there will a camera to capture it all.

Which game will be the big surprise this year? Will you be in New York enjoying the festivities, and are you happy that the East Coast now gets their own version of E3?
