Variety is reporting that Activision is trying to block Electronic Arts from publishing Tim Schafer’s Brutal Legend, a game Activision tossed on the scrap heap along with a bunch of other Vivendi projects after it merged with Blizzard.
Well, now it seems Activision is annoyed that EA may actually, you know, make money, with a game they tossed away, and are threatening to sue for a piece of the pie of any money Brutal Legend makes, apparently wanting some of the profit and none of the expense on a game they didn’t want either. EA has noticed the hypocrisy and likened ActiBlizzard to a “jealous ex-husband”:
We doubt that Activision would try to sue. That would be like a husband abandoning his family and then suing after his wife meets a better looking guy.
Unfortunately, Atari set a dangerous precedent in giving Activision a cut in the profits for Ghostbusters and The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Athena. However, those two titles are actual licensed properties - Brutal Legend is an original IP.
We’ll follow this story – in the meantime, what do you think?

You know it figures this game is having such a hard time getting released. What may be a truly unique experience in gaming tarnished by all the negative press.
in other words, Brutal Legend indeed has a Brutal Legend of its own.
