EA Asks for Brass Knuckles Back

I get the feeling that Electronic Arts’ marketing department didn’t bother running their promotional items for The Godfather 2 past the legal division. If they had, they wouldn’t be asking for them back right now!

EA sent a package full of Mafia and The Godfather related items out with the review copy of their new game, The Godfather 2, to the press. Included in the packages were brass knuckles, which is fine… if you don’t happen to live in Pennsylvania, California, and numerous other states where merely the possession of them is a crime.

EA seems to have realized the gaffe when it was brought to their attention by GamePolitics which calls Pennsylvania home. They’ve begun contacting various outlets, like GamePolitics, Joystiq and Kotaku – we here at Gamestooge didn’t receive a press kit so we won’t be hearing from EA – to notify them that EA will be mailing them a pre-paid mailer to help “properly dispose” of the “novelty brass knuckles.” When asked for further details the folks at EA are all mum.

(Thanks, GamePolitics.)
