Here we go again, folks.
Games Industry Biz is reporting that Tony Hawk: Ride – and its skateboard controller – will be an Xbox 360 exclusive in the United Kingdom.
“Further to Monday’s announcement regarding Tony Hawk: RIDE, Activision UK is pleased to announce that this title will be launched later this year in the UK, as an Xbox 360 platform exclusive,” said the company.
I guess PlayStation 3 and Wii owners will have to take the Chunnel into Paris to get their PAL copies. I guess this is all one big tit-for-tat with Ghostbusters: The Video Game having timed exclusivity for European Sony platforms.
Let us know what you think.
[UPDATE: GIB now says that Activision made a mistake.
"We apologise for the confusion caused by this morning's mailout," said Frank PR in a statement.
"Further to the erroneous information which was distributed this morning regarding Tony Hawk: RIDE, we would like to clarify that the game is due to be released on the following platforms: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii."
Chatter amongst the games industry is suggesting the game may be a timed exclusive for Xbox 360 in Europe, allowing for more time to manufacture the bundled skateboard peripheral when it eventually releases on Wii and PS3 at a later date - and that Frank PR may have jumped the gun by announcing the deal before E3 in June.
No, really, guys. This whole limited time exclusivity in one region is pretty boring. Stop it.]

Well considering I only play the Xbox360 despite owning the other consoles! Im not affected by this – but I always wonder how much money a company potentially loses through exclusives?

Usually, the publisher is compensated by the console manufacturer.
