Chinatown Wars Headed to PSP

PSP World is reporting that Rockstar has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will be hitting the PlayStation Portable. The game had struggled on the DS despite rave reviews (including ours), and sold only 110,000 worldwide in its first week – and a dreadful 64,611 in North America – and ending up with 560K sold in its lifetime to date, far below Rockstar’s expectations. It’s probable that Rockstar intended for a PSP version from the start, but they had expected at least 200-250K in its first month and hoped for 400K-450,000K.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will be available on both UMD and digital download for the PSP and PSP Go later this Fall, and one wonders how much it’ll cost – unless they do a severe upgrade in graphics, it would be a budget title similar to a homebrew game on the technically far more powerful PSP.

Let us know what you think.

This is interesting though I wonder how they’ll changes the parts of the game that were designed specifically for the DS…

I imagine this is a result of the poor sales on the DS… TT has to recoup costs somehow
