Konami Registers Genso Suikoden Trademark

This is pretty early in the game to be talking about it, but what the hell: Konami filed last Monday (June 22, 2009) to trademark the name Genso Suikoden for a new video game. The Suikoden series, for some reason, has always flown beneath the radar. The first two are great games, and the ones after it aren’t bad either.

Really no point in guessing what this is at this point, especially since the name “Genso Suikoden” is the generic name of the entire series and the original 1995 title in Japan. If Konami does have another Suikoden in the works, I’m sure we’ll hear about it soon. Tokyo Game Show isn’t that far away.

(Thanks, PSXExtreme.)

I just plugged 20 hours into Suikoden Tierkreis on the DS over the week-end, feels like I’m about 1/2 way through the game.

That’s more time than I’ve put into any DS game so far and the first time I’ve turned it on in over a year (the battery was so dead I had to re-set up all the settings and everything.)

But I notice the original Japanese name for this game was “Gensō Suikoden Tierkreis” so perhaps “Gensō Suikoden” is going to be a console port of the DS game?

More likely it’s a a console version of the original game (which was titled Genso Suikoden) The game is already out on PSP, but there’s a fancy PSP edition in Japan that has Suikoden 1 and 2 on it with some bonuses…

At this point without any more info, I can’t say.
