Bungie has annouced that three new maps will be coming to Halo 3 this coming fall, called “Heretic”, “Citadel”, and “Longshore” – which will be included on the Halo 3: ODST multiplayer disc.
- Heretic should be familiar to Halo 2 players as a successor to Midship, the cozy spaceship map that often led to wild melees. There was nothing better than playing Swords in Midship – or Ninja Swords, with one player invisible hunting down everyone else, all with swords. Chaos reigned supreme, as did paranoia – and fun.
- Citadel is a new map, described by Bungie as “a long abandoned Forerunner stronghold, but its small, symmetrical confines are far from secure. Two opposing bases offer little safety for players looking for solace. Instead, Citadel forces small squads to stay in constant communication, keep their heads on a swivel, and be prepared to adjust combat tactics in close quarters.”
- Longshore is a huge map, featuring a gritty, rusted pier facility surrounded by water. Bungie states: “Longshore’s multitude of industrial buildings, elevated walks, and open inlets conspire to create a complex battleground tailored for multiple combat scenarios.” (Shown above.)
This gives some more value to Halo 3: ODST as it now includes maps that players haven’t already bought, though perhaps not enough value. One good thing: Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST multiplayer are compatible. The other two maps after the break.
(Thanks, Major Nelson.)
