Which E3 Conference Was More Embarrassing?

Looking back, it’s interesting to compare the embarrassing E3 conferences that Sony and Nintendo issued in 2006 and 2008 respectively. Both had one thing in common: arrogance. Sony was flush off the PlayStation 2 high, while Nintendo was in the midst of huge sales from the Wii in its first year.

Both of them seemed to think that anything they put up there would be embraced by the gaming community with unrequited love. They failed to understand that respect is not only earned in the video game industry, but there is a severe “What are you going to do for us now?” mentality. Some in the industry think Sony still hasn’t gotten the message, and while Nintendo realized it misstepped, the next conference only changed its tone from gleeful giggling to a more somber – yet still just as boring – conference.

So the question is: which one was more embarrassing? Sony E3 2006 Vs. Nintendo E3 2008 – fight!

I’m going to have to say that it was Sony’s. Nintendo can be laughed at but they at least have all that money to console them. Sony doesn’t, and they won’t until they give people and actual reason to to buy the PS3.

Seriously? Out of news? And all you come up with is a fueling station for a flame war?

  3. Jonah Falcon Says:

No, it’s just funny. Besides, what kind of flame war do you think this could start? “My conference sucked less than yours!” flame war?
