All Signs Point to Command & Conquer MMO?

There’s a lot of evidence pointing to a Command & Conquer MMO, reports Game Replays, and the evidence is quite compelling. The site lists the following factors that seem to indicate Electronic Arts will be turning C&C into an MMO:

  • Command & Conquer 4 designer Sam Bass was quoted as saying C&C4, despite being the last RTS in the Tiberium universe, won’t be the last story in the series: “While we can only really speak to Command & Conquer 4 at this time, it is safe to say that the conclusion of the Tiberium saga is not the end of the Tiberium Universe as a whole.”
  • Electronic Arts has failed so far in developing compelling MMOs on the level of World of Warcraft
  • The C&C Tiberium universe is the only in-depth universe among the IPs that Electronic Arts owns – and remember, World of Warcraft itself is based on an RTS
  • Electronic Arts has been spending a lot of money on building a background for C&C4. Example: “For starters, EA spent quite a bit of money to get students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to develop an entire science to describe what Tiberium is and how it works.” They wouldn’t spend that money for just one game.
  • Electronic Arts has changed management, and they may be looking to expand the C&C IP beyond RTS games.

Let us know what you think. Would you play an MMO based on Command & Conquer?
