Media Molecule: No LittleBigPlanet 2

Media Molecule says they have no intention on developing LittleBigPlanet 2, reports PSX Etreme, because they want to retain the stress on user-created content, despite “all but confirming” LBP2 back in July.

Media Molecule continues to insist that we’ll never see a LittleBigPlanet 2. Due to the unique “Create, Play, Share” concept that fuels the multiplayer aspect of the game, the developers have avoided the idea of a sequel so as not to splinter the accumulated community. Besides, with everything they continue to add to the LBP experience, it’s as if a brand new game is springing to life before our very eyes. A Critical Gamer interview with producer Martin Lynagh and level designer Danny Leaver proves once again that LBP is a living, breathing, expanding game and LBP2 just wouldn’t make any sense. “I think what you’ve seen so far from LittleBigPlanet, that’s the way it’s going to continue,” said Lynagh. Leaver added: “We’d never do that. That’d be the most counterproductive thing you could do I think.” Well, all one has to do is examine the sheer amount of DLC that is currently available for the game to see that Media Molecule hasn’t stopped working. No, they’re not sitting back on their laurels saying, “nah, no sequel.”

Do you want a LittleBigPlanet 2, and if so, what would you improve? Let us know.
